  • AWESOME Podcast, Inspiring & More 🏆🏆

Austin does a powerful job with his podcast whether he’s interviewing other coaches, or forcing you to think outside the box! I’ve been in this profession for over 20 years, so it’s refreshing and inspiring to listen to Austin, but this is also a very powerful podcast for the younger Coaches out there to get you to think differently with regards to training and business!!

  • Such a great job!

Austin has a very fine and professional podcast. I don’t want to play favorites because I was guest or anything, but having done interview situations before, he asked questions that allowed me to really reflect and answer honestly. I really appreciated that. Highly recommended! 💪🏾

Love the message these guys give! Mountains and Valleys! Being Grateful! It all starts with foundation. Greg seems a little soft but other than that this podcast is amazing!

  • Is this Greg guy losing weight?

This Greg guy seems like a very disciplined guy. From what he’s saying on the podcast you can hear the sound waves bouncing off his clothes that are probably too big for him. I bet this guy is SWIMMING in his clothes. Maybe some of the listeners can help him out. Love the show.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Wil Fleming: Olympic Coach's Thoughts on Velocity Based Training
Q: What role do velocity graphs and bar tracking devices play in everyday coaching and athlete progression?
Graphs of velocity and force help visualize the lift, confirm whether the athlete is hitting intended speeds, and allow adjustments to technique and load in real time, making coaching more precise and data-driven.
Wil Fleming: Olympic Coach's Thoughts on Velocity Based Training
Q: How do you program VBT for Olympic lifts, and how does that differ from more traditional percentage-based loading?
He describes using minimal velocity thresholds as a baseline, then setting daily targets a certain percentage above this threshold, integrating sets and rep schemes around velocity drop-offs, and ensuring the bar speed drives the stimulus rather than fixed percentages alone.
Wil Fleming: Olympic Coach's Thoughts on Velocity Based Training
Q: How did you first get interested in velocity-based training and what was your initial process for applying it to Olympic lifts?
Wil explains discovering velocity data in college, adopting peak velocity as a key metric for Olympic lifts, and gradually building a velocity profile unique to weightlifting movements while using historical data and Soviet-era benchmarks to guide initial targets.
Kevin Deitz: RTP Protocols, Baseline Testing, and Completing the Cinci Trilogy
Q: What are some of the tools you've used or some of the tests you use or metrics?
We use Nord Board, CMJs, isometric thigh pulls, and a quick board for reaction time.
Kevin Deitz: RTP Protocols, Baseline Testing, and Completing the Cinci Trilogy
Q: What is the process like of not only finding a mentor, but allowing someone to actually be your mentor?
It's all about building connections, being a sponge, and putting the ego aside to learn from others.
