  • Informative

I really enjoy Dr. Moyers’ episodes because they are informative about a variety of topics facing midlife women. She is so knowledgeable and breaks things down so simply for the average person. I appreciate that her episodes are relatively brief (other podcasters would use up double the time to say the same things) but packed full of information. Keep up the great work!

  • Just the facts

This is my favorite perimenopause podcast because Dr Moyers keeps things factual, conversational, and fun. No sensationalism or information overload that leaves you feeling doom and gloom. I am a physician and I think she perfectly balances providing detailed medical info that is also easily understandable to a non-medical person. I love the variety and expertise of her guests as well. I have recommended this podcast (as well as Dr Moyers herself!) to my friends and co-workers

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Episode 258: Vaginal Botox for Painful Sex: When Your Pelvic Floor Won't Relax — with Dr. Chailee Moss
Q: What does the procedure entail and what should patients expect?
The procedure typically involves several injections (often starting at around 100 units, sometimes up to 200 total depending on the patient) into targeted pelvic floor muscles, with options to use topical anesthetic and nitrous oxide for anxiety. Patients may have some discomfort and a short post-procedure flare, but most recover with time and follow-up physical therapy.
Episode 258: Vaginal Botox for Painful Sex: When Your Pelvic Floor Won't Relax — with Dr. Chailee Moss
Q: Walk us through who would be a good candidate for vaginal Botox.
A good candidate is someone with a clearly hypertonic pelvic floor contributing to painful intercourse who has not adequately responded to conservative therapies like pelvic floor physical therapy and standard medications. They should have significant/treatment-resistant muscle tension, and be willing to combine injections with ongoing therapy to maximize benefit while avoiding over-relaxation.
Episode 252: Ask Me Anything: Hormones, Sexual Health, and Midlife Myths Debunked
Q: How does Addyi work in the brain and does it interact with antidepressants?
Addyi lowers serotonin and increases dopamine and norepinephrine to boost desire; it can interact with SSRIs via CYP2C19, affecting levels and safety.
Episode 252: Ask Me Anything: Hormones, Sexual Health, and Midlife Myths Debunked
Q: How do we know if we're in menopause with an IU D and no period?
Two elevated FSH readings six weeks apart indicate menopause; symptoms and clinical context guide management even if labs are nuanced.
Episode 252: Ask Me Anything: Hormones, Sexual Health, and Midlife Myths Debunked
Q: I have a history of breast cancer. Is hormone therapy completely off the table?
It depends on cancer type, stage, treatment, and individual risk; local vaginal estrogen may be considered in some cases with caution and expert guidance.
