Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Tyler Barnett: Autism Advocacy with GAP Music and Empowerment
Q: How did your diagnosis affect your professional work in PR and music?
It unlocked a new flow state I call 'the gap,' allowing me to embrace patterns and emergent music ideas, and it reshaped how I approach both PR and music creation.
Tyler Barnett: Autism Advocacy with GAP Music and Empowerment
Q: Could you tell the audience if you're autistic yourself?
Yes, I am; I was diagnosed six months ago, which clarified a lot of my lifelong experiences with patterns, eye contact, and how I communicate.
Faria Arsh: How she started the Autism Foundation in the U.K.
Q: Can you explain the levels of autism to those who might not understand it?
Level descriptions align with varying communication, social interaction, and repetitive behavior challenges, with Level 1 being milder and Level 3 representing more severe impairment; the key is recognizing that impairment spans multiple areas and that effective support should be tailored rather than relying on labels.
Dr. Cochran: Brain Waves, Breakthroughs and Unlocking the Secrets of the Mind
Q: What does autism really look like? I'm scared for their future. How do I plan for that?
She outlines the need for a practical, multi-layered approach: building a common language between neurotypical and neurodivergent partners, creating safety nets, using structured routines, and employing therapeutic techniques to slow down processing and improve executive function, with emphasis on ongoing support and proactive planning.
Dr. Cochran: Brain Waves, Breakthroughs and Unlocking the Secrets of the Mind
Q: Yes, me too. Great to have you on. If you would, give us a little background. What do you do?
Dr. Cochran describes her work with neurodivergent individuals and couples, focusing on coaching beyond clinical settings, helping people manage trauma, ADHD, autism, and other challenges through strategies like self-regulation, communication, and problem-solving, with an emphasis on present-mocused therapies and global coaching reach.
