Dreadful, cheesy American production style — unlistenable.

I lost count the number of times Natalie Morales and Matt Gutman said “you know…” and “I mean…” So distracting!

Whatever happened to professional reporting? Why does everyone sound like they’re in a middle school cafeteria?

  • Show is good- but

I started listening and enjoyed most of the episodes until recently. Not sure why- but now that I’ve made it to the 2018 season the show is very very quiet and the ads are unbelievably loud.

I just can’t stand having to constantly adjust the volume. I’ll be listening intently and nearly have a heart attack when they change to an ad.

I’ll try skipping ahead a year. Maybe the issue has been resolved.

I’m sorry but my kid is four years old right now. He farted the other day and blamed his brother. (Who was at school) I find it horrible to try and put this kid on the stand. No four year old KNOWS forsure what a lie is. I’m not saying the brother did it. I’m saying something happened and you shouldn’t just take a four year olds statement as what happened.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Post Mortem | Lindbergh
Q: Why did Hauptmann become the sole suspect so quickly, and was that justified?
Hauptmann carried ransom money and carried a suspicious badge of circumstantial evidence, including a ladder and specific notes, but the interview notes that the case relied heavily on controversial forensic and prosecutorial moves, casting doubt on whether he acted alone and whether the trial met fair standards by today's, and even 1930s, norms.
Post Mortem | Lindbergh
Q: What happened on March 1st, 1932, in Hopewell, New Jersey?
Hopewell saw the Lindbergh baby disappear from a nursery, prompting frantic police work, early ransom discussions, and a cascade of oddities that would shape the investigation and public reaction for years to come.
Post Mortem | The Plot to Kill Alyssa Burkett
Q: Why did Holly Elkins and Andrew Beard pursue such a complex plan, and what does this tell us about how coercive relationships can evolve into violent outcomes?
The host and guests discuss how Holly exploited fear and custody concerns to push Andrew toward drastic actions, illustrating a toxic dynamic where manipulation, social pressure, and desperation can culminate in murder.
Case by Case | The Trial of Larry Millete Begins
Q: What are the most provocative pieces of evidence discussed?
Key evidence includes spellcaster emails and the vial with poison hemlock, plus surveillance footage and cell phone data that frame the timeline and relationships, contributing to the theory of motive and possible harm.
Case by Case | The Trial of Larry Millete Begins
Q: What is the core timeline surrounding Maya Millete's disappearance?
The episode outlines Maya's last known activities on January 7, 2021, including a planned divorce consultation and family plans, followed by Larry's suspicious behavior the next day and a police investigation that identified weapons and a late arrest in October 2021, with the no-body case complicating the prosecution's burden of proof.
