  • Informative on so many levels

As a practicing non-traditional physical therapist myself, it’s always refreshing to come across great content from other colleagues in my field, who go above and beyond traditional PT. Lara is one of those colleagues who operates at that higher level.

Redefining Yoga provides whole body content and resources from experts that can really help fitness enthusiasts out there get to their next level in overall health or people just starting out on their journey as well!

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

RE-RELEASE: Weight Bearing in the Hands, LYT for Anxiety Reduction, & Anterior Knee Pain
Q: Scott Brown asks about the stigma of knee pain and how to manage anterior knee pain without worsening it.
They acknowledge anterior knee pain can be multifactorial and emphasize addressing hip and rib cage mobility, pelvic alignment, and safe, progressive knee-friendly loading while avoiding aggravating movements like deep squats or lunges when inflamed.
RE-RELEASE: Weight Bearing in the Hands, LYT for Anxiety Reduction, & Anterior Knee Pain
Q: Simone asks whether LYT can help her anxiety and how the nervous system is influenced by movement.
The hosts explain that LYT aims to balance the nervous system through neuromotor remapping, breathing, posture, and mindful progression, which helps regulate the parasympathetic and sympathetic systems and reduces anxious states over time.
RE-RELEASE: Hip Trouble, Flexibility vs. Mobility, & Finding a Good PT
Q: What does it take to find a PT who treats the body as a whole rather than a single problem?
Prioritize practitioners who ask about how you move, your sleep, stress, and daily functioning, and who can explain how initial visits will look beyond just treating a localized pain; be willing to invest time and potentially more money for a thorough, global assessment.
RE-RELEASE: Wednesday Q&A - Inversion During Pregnancy, Brain Boosting Yoga, & Menopause Advice
Q: What is happening in the brain during LYT practice to improve reading and focus?
LYT stimulates the brain through varied movements and focus on alignment, which keeps the brain from autopilot, increases frontal cortex activity, boosts synaptic connections, and enhances concentration—effects that extend to better reading and cognitive focus.
RE-RELEASE: Wednesday Q&A - Inversion During Pregnancy, Brain Boosting Yoga, & Menopause Advice
Q: How does the shoulder relate to the opposite glute, and why might there be a connection?
There is a cross-body fascial sling where the right shoulder can be linked to the left hip; imbalances in one area can reflect or drive instability in the other, so strengthening the whole core cylinder and maintaining balance across the body helps stabilize the spine and pelvis.
