  • The Art of Listening

This podcast makes you stop multitasking, exercising and at times driving. The topics make you pick up a pen and journal to take notes. The art of listening is something one should learn in order to really grasp the value of this podcast. Lastly, the Maya Angelo episode is a must.

  • Go away stop recommending

No, I do not “You Might Also Like” this podcast. Oprah is a horrific grifter and this podcast is just another part of that empire. Stop recommending, do not listen, go away.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

The Financial Mistake We Keep Making and How to Stop
Q: What is one financial mistake you see people making over and over again, that you would like to stop?
The YOLO mindset: people refuse to save, go into debt, and assume circumstances will always stay favorable, which leaves them unprepared when a crisis hits; the antidote is building six months of savings and avoiding over-leveraging.
The Correspondent: The Story Behind the Unexpected Bestseller Everyone is Reading
Q: How did the author approach writing a long, epistolary narrative and giving voice to Sybil through letters?
She built the story linearly through letters, letting responses from others illuminate Sybil's life and using mirrors from friends to reveal different facets of her character.
What End-of-Life Dreams Can Teach Us About Living, with Hospice Doctor Christopher Kerr
Q: How has witnessing these experiences influenced your approach to medicine and caregiving?
It shifted the emphasis from purely organ-based treatment to a whole-person care approach that prioritizes patient voice, reverence for their experiences, and humane, home-like care rather than institutionalization.
What End-of-Life Dreams Can Teach Us About Living, with Hospice Doctor Christopher Kerr
Q: What impact do these experiences have on patients and their families?
They provide comfort, reduce fear of death, aid forgiveness and reconciliation, and help families experience closure when a loved one nears the end of life.
Is Stoicism the Secret to a Good Life?
Q: How do you use Stoicism in high-pressure situations like emergency medicine?
By focusing on what can be controlled, pausing before reacting, and aligning actions with virtue to serve others, even under extreme stress.
