  • Sound is terrible

I like the content of this podcast. The sound is terrible. It sounds like it is being recorded in an empty room. Dr Lyon sounds very far away. It makes it really hard to listen.

  • Careful

While an overall good show this is a medical doctor who is unyielding in her opinion that everyone should be eating animal products. Lots of condescension for this choosing a pescatarian or veg way. The guest talking about the new nutrition guidelines is gushing about Kennedy. Kennedy is unwell. Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Is the Protein RDA Too Low for You? What 40 Years of Studies Show - Dr. Don Layman & Dr. Heather Leidy | GLS #214
Q: Do the speakers think the AMDR framework is necessary?
They discuss AMDR as a broad safety range, but caution that it may obscure practical protein targets and mislead consumers about how much protein is actually needed per day or per meal.
Is the Protein RDA Too Low for You? What 40 Years of Studies Show - Dr. Don Layman & Dr. Heather Leidy | GLS #214
Q: What is the dominant takeaway about protein recommendations from the new guidelines?
Protein is prioritized as a key nutrient in dietary patterns, with a suggested range (1.2–1.6 g/kg) to support body composition and health outcomes, rather than simply sticking to the traditional RDA of 0.8 g/kg.
Cardio vs Strength Is a Myth and the Science Proves It - Alyssa Olenick
Q: How should beginners approach building a program?
Start with whatever you can do consistently (bodyweight, bands, etc.), then progressively add resistance and cardio, aiming for two to three combined sessions per week to begin, and adjust based on goals and tolerance.
Cardio vs Strength Is a Myth and the Science Proves It - Alyssa Olenick
Q: Should listeners prioritize cardio or strength, or some combination?
Both modalities are valuable; the dominant approach is hybrid/concurrent training that builds strength and cardiovascular health together, with attention to how to schedule high-intensity sessions to minimize interference.
How to Stay Calm in a Crisis and Why Detachment Is a Trainable Skill - Jamie Cochran
Q: What are the top three things leaders do not do well or mistakes that you see over and over again?
They make excuses and blame others, they overestimate the strength of their relationships, and they fail to act decisively or apply ownership when needed, allowing problems to fester.
