  • Some good episodes, but Dr Shefali has some outdated and sexist beliefs. Spoke with such authority without any basis in science or any robust reasoning behind some of her conservative views

  • Lisa Bryer the posh addict

I’m sorry but what an out of touch entitled recovery story! So many things left out and not asked- starting with how does an addict with no qualifications gets to work as a ‘runner’ for the film industry, travelling the world and even being sought-after; how come her family was oblivious to the fact she’d apparently been an addict for years before she asked daddy to pay for this super exclusive rehab in the US. Oh and of course last but not least, the NA meetings in Chelsey ;))

Dr Sharon Bergquist on the Stress Paradox and Why Some Stress Makes Us Stronger
Q: We think stress is inherently harmful; can you walk us through the different kinds of stress you see clinically and biologically, and how to tell which are harming us versus helping us?
There are types of stress that are chronic and unpredictable, which can be harmful, and types that are thoughtful and intentional, aligned with meaning and purpose, which can be protective. The body's biochemical response varies by context; with meaningful, recovery-focused stress, hormones like dopamine and oxytocin can promote resilience, whereas chronic stress can maintain harmful cortisol profiles and inflammation. The key is to assess both the psychological experience and the biochemical signals, and to emphasize recovery after stress as essential for growth.
HEALING 101: Ore Oduba on Bringing Hidden Struggles Into the Light
Q: When did porn start feeling like a choice or coping mechanism for you?
I realized in recent years that it had become a routine way to fill time and manage emotions, and I only understood its severity when the pattern became loud enough to disrupt other areas of life.
Why Nature Makes Us Feel Better with Dr Marc Berman
Q: What is attention and how do voluntary and involuntary attention differ in daily life?
Directed attention is the voluntary focus we use at work or school, which fatigues with use; involuntary attention is captured by nature's stimuli and is less prone to fatigue, helping us recover directed attention after exposure.
Divorce for Women: Why It Feels So Hard and How to Start Again with Oona Metz
Q: What practical guidance do you offer to someone who is weighing staying in an unhappy marriage versus leaving, especially regarding supporting children and managing social pressures?
Think through journaling, therapy, and open conversations with trusted friends. Prioritize children by communicating clearly, avoiding bad-mouthing the other parent, and creating a stable support network. Seek professional guidance to navigate co-parenting and social expectations, and remember that seeking help does not mean weakness—it's a step toward healthier futures.
Divorce for Women: Why It Feels So Hard and How to Start Again with Oona Metz
Q: What are the most common reasons for divorce initiation and how does that shape the journey that follows for the initiating and non-initiating partner?
Common triggers include affairs, abuse (physical or emotional), and long-term neglect or withdrawal. When one partner initiates, the other often experiences shock and grief, while the initiator may have endured years of unmet needs. The journey involves renegotiating identity, handling the legal process, and rebuilding life while managing complex emotions.
