Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Ep. 40 - Keenan Dung on how he built Anchor Strength Systems and when to fix asymmetries
Q: What criteria do you use to decide when to intervene with an athlete's movement asymmetry?
I use three criteria: presence of pain, plateau in strength or progress, and a clear, obvious faulty pattern that would likely bottleneck progress. If any of these are present in a meaningful way, I consider targeted movement corrections before continuing with progression.
Ep. 40 - Keenan Dung on how he built Anchor Strength Systems and when to fix asymmetries
Q: Can you walk us through your team dynamics and how you decide the right time to expand or trim the roster?
Expansion is driven by the balance between inquiries and the capacity to support athletes. We trimmed from five to four coaches to maintain quality and ensure each athlete gets adequate attention and resources. Growth is contingent on the business sustaining the added workload and maintaining service levels.
Ep. 40 - Keenan Dung on how he built Anchor Strength Systems and when to fix asymmetries
Q: How did you decide to bring other coaches on to Anchor Strength Systems, and what were the early logistics like?
In the early days I had around 25 athletes, and inquiries grew faster than I could handle. I reached out to trusted friends to join the team and then established LLCs, contracts, and a payout structure. It evolved gradually as the business demonstrated consistent demand and the need for scale.
Ep. 27 - Marcellus Williams on Scaling a Roster and Gameday Handling
Q: What are your top three game-day learnings for coaches handling elite lifters?
Have a trusted, adaptable plan; do competition scouting to anticipate moves; and avoid being overwhelmed by pressures, sticking to the plan and using gut instincts when supported by data.
Ep. 27 - Marcellus Williams on Scaling a Roster and Gameday Handling
Q: How did you build up from part-time to managing a huge roster without sacrificing quality?
By establishing a clear structure from the start (check-in times, response guidelines), gradually expanding capacity, and enforcing a hard cap that ensured quality and balance; he also emphasizes personal insight into capacity and ongoing discipline.
