  • Good show

Good show, it’s come a long way from the early episodes. Oil is a great addition to the show, love how he explains the science in half hour. Great episode on heavy runners, he should be a regular guest.

  • Great originally, now forgotten its purpose

When this first started it was great to hear different perspectives on how people were getting the most out of their bodies, and how the listener could learn from them. It has evolved in to being running focused, and now even more so just a place for Spencer to keep talking rather than listening. He has a lot of opinions, but it’d be better balanced with more of the guests voice than his.

Josh Kerr's Mile Vs Sabastian Sawe's Marathon & Training Secrets | Nike's Running Head Coach Bennett
Q: What distinguishes a 'personal best' from an athlete's best race in terms of coaching philosophy?
A best race is the one where the athlete executes plans, handles variables, and competes with purpose, which may be slower than a faster time but represents optimal performance given the day's conditions and strategic decisions.
Josh Kerr's Mile Vs Sabastian Sawe's Marathon & Training Secrets | Nike's Running Head Coach Bennett
Q: As a coach, how do you balance the pressure of a world-record attempt with ensuring an athlete races their best?
Honesty and context; set goals that are beyond current capability to drive training, but keep perspective on weather, course, and other variables, and focus on racing your best rather than fixating on a time.
Fuelling Secrets for a 2:04 Marathon & Best Running Shoes | Amanal Petros
Q: Can you break down how you would strategize a race like that?
Strategy is about reading the day, saving energy, and then capitalizing in the final stages. I aim to stay steady early and push in the last 15k, with a focus on maintaining form and staying relaxed to finish strong.
5 Training Rules from an Ironman World Champion Coach
Q: Can you give a practical tip for a strong 5K race that isn't about more miles?
Start controlled, then gradually build through the race, avoiding an overly aggressive first two minutes that crush you in the last kilometer.
5 Training Rules from an Ironman World Champion Coach
Q: How do you balance data-driven training with real-world limitations for age-group athletes?
Plan with structure, but stay flexible; adapt weekly and monthly goals to life stress and scheduling realities, so you don't derail progress when plans shift.
