  • Fabulous running podcast!

Solid five stars running podcast, full of brilliant tips and camaraderie. (Please get rid / significantly reduce the volume of the TradeCentreUK adverts: so loud and piercing - so unnecessary - and has made me want to avoid TCUK at all costs).

Thank you so much, Paula and Thommo. It is a privilege to tune into your show! X

  • Way too many ads

I was really excited to find this podcast, but gave up after 14 minutes when I got tired of listening to ads. Will try again in a few months to see if they change the format.

  • Glad your back

So glad you have decided to keep the podcast going beyond the marathon, it kept me company while I prepared for a 24hr event (endure24) which I managed 13 laps 65 miles. Keep up the good work.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Paula's Run Club: The Shakeout Episode 36
Q: What advice helps someone returning from injury to rebuild running without overdoing it?
Advice includes returning gradually, keeping cross-training to maintain fitness, avoiding constant injury checks, and listening to the body's signals while staying consistent with aerobic work to reclaim the running feel.
Paula's Run Club: The Shakeout Episode 36
Q: What should I focus on to recover after a marathon or long race and plan the next goal?
After a marathon, it's important to acknowledge the post-race blues, allow your body to recover, and purposefully plan the next target or rest period; maintaining some activity like cross-training and gradually reintroducing running helps sustain momentum.
Paula's Run Club: The Shakeout Episode 36
Q: Are the Good For Age start waves like this, and how might congestion affect my race?
The hosts explain that Good For Age waves can start a bit earlier and that congestion is normal; the key is to stay relaxed, view the initial miles as warmup, and let the field spread out as you settle into your rhythm.
From Fourth to Podium: Patrick Dever's Marathon Journey
Q: How do you balance expectations and stay relaxed going into London after such a big build?
He focuses on the process, not the end result, relies on his coaches and training partner, and uses race-day routines and mental cues to stay calm and keep moving forward.
From Fourth to Podium: Patrick Dever's Marathon Journey
Q: When did you first find out about the NYC podium upgrade and how did you react?
Patrick learned about the upgrade via social media and a NYRR email; the moment was surreal because he never stood on the podium for that race, but it added a financial upside and a sense of validation for his debut.
