  • Fabulous running podcast!

Solid five stars running podcast, full of brilliant tips and camaraderie. (Please get rid / significantly reduce the volume of the TradeCentreUK adverts: so loud and piercing - so unnecessary - and has made me want to avoid TCUK at all costs).

Thank you so much, Paula and Thommo. It is a privilege to tune into your show! X

  • Way too many ads

I was really excited to find this podcast, but gave up after 14 minutes when I got tired of listening to ads. Will try again in a few months to see if they change the format.

  • Glad your back

So glad you have decided to keep the podcast going beyond the marathon, it kept me company while I prepared for a 24hr event (endure24) which I managed 13 laps 65 miles. Keep up the good work.

Paula's Run Club: The Shakeout Episode 34
Q: How important is trust in a coach for a first-time coaching experience?
The hosts stress that trusting the coach is essential, noting the long-term bond and open dialogue as critical, and advise maintaining communication to adjust plans as needed rather than trying to DIY through the process.
Paula's Run Club:The Shakeout Episode 32
Q: How should I handle cramping at around 22 miles during a marathon?
Tune hydration and electrolyte balance, consider shoe changes to alter biomechanics, and experiment with fueling and pacing in long training runs to identify a steadier approach that reduces cramps on race day.
Paula's Run Club: The Shakeout Episode 31
Q: What is the best approach for Kayleigh and Tara in managing two marathons six days apart?
They outline three options: use Boston as a training run for London, go hard in both with emphasis on recovery, or treat them as joint events with an appropriate taper and recovery plan that prioritizes enjoyment and performance in both.
Paula's Run Club: The Shakeout Episode 31
Q: Is Tara mad to even think about doing London as well after Boston?
The hosts suggest multiple options: treat Boston as a training run for London, or balance both by prioritizing recovery and enjoying London, with a focus on recovery, nutrition, and mindset rather than chasing a fast time.
Paula's Run Club:The Shakeout Episode 30
Q: Should I race a 20-mile event nine weeks out to gain confidence and fitness?
Yes, a 20-mile race can be beneficial for confidence and marathon-specific pacing, provided you feel gut-ready and the race is used to reinforce race effort rather than chase an exact marathon pace; trust your gut and ensure psychological and physical readiness.
