  • Just telling the truth

I enjoyed every episode I’ve listened to. No matter how short. People working for Viva are working for animals, for their welfare. They are telling us the truth about living conditions of majority of farm animals in the UK. I’m greatful to all of them for that. Unfortunately it’s not like in Countryfile, which I believed for far too long. Majority of animals are confined in factories. Here in the UK. Not many of them on the green fields when you drive by. Over 1 billion killed in the UK a year t... more

  • Melaine Joy interview 1/3/23

This was such a brilliant podcast, as they all are. I related to the secondary trauma and how this has affected my life. We as vegans know about the trauma of being wistness to the atrocities within the animal agriculture industries, but to have it validated by Malaine was incredibly reassuring. It was good for her to share the impact animal ag is having on the planet too. These podcasts, and other vegan podcasts, are the only thing that keeps me grounded and offers hope. Even after over twenty ... more

  • Really inspiring!

This podcast is what encourages me to go out and do my 4km walk every morning. I normally hate exercise but this podcast gets me out there so I can listen to it! I started listening about a year ago and started from the first episode. I am now nearly caught up!

There are some very interesting guests and topics. The downside (if it is one!) is that I keep buying books by people who are on and who I find fascinating.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Charlotte Roy on Greenwashing, Vegan Myths & Kitchen Secrets
Q: What would you cook to change someone's mind about plant-based food?
A rich, indulgent dish that demonstrates how plants can deliver comfort and luxury, such as a creamy, flavorful pasta or a deeply rich miso macaroni cheese that satisfies familiar cravings.
Undercover Truths & Sonic Protest: Gemunu De Silva Unfiltered
Q: How did the Sonic Art album come about, and what do you hope it achieves?
After years of field recordings, I wanted to move beyond visuals and create an auditory experience that preserves authenticity while being musical and accessible. Collaborating with Gnostic Front over 18 months led to Industry Standards, which invites listeners to engage for longer periods and discuss the issues in listening-setting formats like vinyl listening parties.
Undercover Truths & Sonic Protest: Gemunu De Silva Unfiltered
Q: Can you describe the risk and ethics of your early factory-farm investigations?
We operated within legal boundaries, avoided criminal activity, and treated the work as journalism to inform the public. The risk was real—being associated with radical groups could mean severe penalties—but the aim was to document reality and provoke responsible change, not to sensationalize or harm others.
Undercover Truths & Sonic Protest: Gemunu De Silva Unfiltered
Q: What first drew you to veganism, and how did it evolve into your investigative work?
I was influenced by a mix of philosophical readings, especially Peter Singer, and my involvement in the punk scene, which encouraged challenging established norms. This combination pushed me toward vegetarianism and eventually veganism, and it motivated me to use film and later investigations to expose what was happening in animal industries.
The Truth About Burnout No Activist Wants to Admit - Emily (Bite Size Vegan)
Q: What are you working on next?
I aim to share my experience with burnout and assist neurodivergent individuals in navigating veganism and activism.
