  • Great guests

Annoying host. He talks like he is trying to be a 20 year old dude… it’s hard to listen to even though the guests are excellent and have amazing information to share.

  • (Love the podcast!) More female based research is needed

In the recent episode with Dr. Fuhrman he speaks of women in mid-life and older cutting calories down to 1300 or less, to lose weight, without mentioning the nuances of nutrition and the effects of perimenopause and menopause on the body as well as body composition and the effects of strength training and increased protein. It’s so tiring hearing male doctors talk so confidently about women’s health - women are not little men. Would be refreshing to have more experts on the show who are experts ... more

  • Stay in the Nutrition Lane, please

The recent episode on closure of the ONPRC was unresearched and oversimplified in your efforts to sensationalize the topic. Fetal Alcohol Syndrome is “discovered” but still not fully understood in terms of the effects of early pregnancy and low to moderate exposure. Human studies of precise timing of alcohol exposure, exact doses and fetal brain analysis are unethical. Not only are NHPs still essential, they are deeply cared for by those in the field. You chose to highlight a tragic, deeply sad ... more

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Lower Cholesterol With Food: The Portfolio Diet Explained | Dr. David Jenkins
Q: What makes the Portfolio Diet effective, and how should people begin adopting it?
The diet is effective because it combines multiple plant-based foods that contribute protein, fats, fiber, and beneficial compounds; beginners can start with breakfast—add oats or barley, use soy or another plant protein in place of meat, and include a small portion of nuts to begin building the portfolio gradually.
Lower Cholesterol With Food: The Portfolio Diet Explained | Dr. David Jenkins
Q: Can a person eat a diet that is exclusively free of cholesterol and still be a healthy individual?
Dr. Jenkins explains that a cholesterol-free diet is not necessary or practical for most people; the portfolio approach shows that plant-based foods can lower LDL and that the body can produce its own cholesterol, so dietary restriction alone isn't the only path to health.
Can't Poop? Do This to Help Constipation | Dr. Will Bulsiewicz
Q: What actually qualifies as constipation according to Dr. Bulsiewicz?
Constipation isn't defined solely by frequency; it includes symptoms like straining, incomplete evacuation, and bloating, and can occur even if you have regular bowel movements if those symptoms are present.
Real Meat vs. Fake Meat: Which Is Healthier? | Dr. Neal Barnard
Q: Is there a beneficial approach to substituting animal products with plant-based options without compromising health?
Yes; focusing on whole, minimally processed plant foods and avoiding high-fat processed items can capture most health benefits.
Real Meat vs. Fake Meat: Which Is Healthier? | Dr. Neal Barnard
Q: What should consumers look for on labels when evaluating ultra-processed foods?
Avoid products with animal ingredients and be wary of high saturated fat; consider the overall nutritional profile, including fiber, sugar, and caloric density.
