  • Stay in the Nutrition Lane, please

The recent episode on closure of the ONPRC was unresearched and oversimplified in your efforts to sensationalize the topic. Fetal Alcohol Syndrome is “discovered” but still not fully understood in terms of the effects of early pregnancy and low to moderate exposure. Human studies of precise timing of alcohol exposure, exact doses and fetal brain analysis are unethical. Not only are NHPs still essential, they are deeply cared for by those in the field. You chose to highlight a tragic, deeply sad ... more

  • Too funny!?

Love the podcast, lots of great information. I feel Chuck, w his female guests, tries to be too flirty and funny. For example, with this podcast, he spent a lot of time talking about how the guest brings a big bag with a ladle and spoon, etc., to a restaurant… just silly

Also with the doctor Kaliova?, he also acts extra super flirty and funny and wastes a lot of time

On the flipside with his male guests and male doctors, he stays on topic and although he is friendly and funny, he doesn’t get h... more

  • Nitrates

The episode on nitrates with Dr. Khambatta was excellent! I am a triathlete and my kids are runners and swimmers so I loved learning more about which veggies are rich in nitrates, how to eat them (raw), and how much to consume both before and after exercise to hep boost performance and increase time to exhaustion.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Biggest Health Studies of the Year: Sugar, Coffee and More | Dr. Andrew Freeman
Q: Are you surprised by what the last year's nutrition research has shown?
Yes, the overall message is reinforced: a plant-predominant diet consistently benefits heart health and longevity, while ultra-processed foods and sugary drinks continue to drive chronic disease, making the case for real food stronger than ever.
What Happens When You Go Raw Vegan? (Real Experience) | Lissa and Nate Maris
Q: How do you test and track your health improvements while on this diet?
They use at-home microbiome testing (Ombre Lab, Viome) to monitor gut health, track changes in bacteria, and adjust fiber intake based on results to optimize gut scores.
What Happens When You Go Raw Vegan? (Real Experience) | Lissa and Nate Maris
Q: Was it difficult to transition from a traditional nursing environment to raw veganism?
Yes, there were fears about 'manhood' and social norms, but they found support in the personal benefits and community; the switch was driven by long-term health goals and ethical considerations.
What Happens When You Go Raw Vegan? (Real Experience) | Lissa and Nate Maris
Q: What are the big health upsides of a raw vegan approach?
They emphasize hydration, fiber variety, reduced intake of ultra-processed foods, potential improvements in gut health, energy, and digestion, though with caveats about calories, vitamins like B12, calcium, and vitamin D needing attention.
Fatty Liver Disease: How To Reverse It FAST | Dr. Neal Barnard
Q: Are there specific plant foods that actively reduce liver fat?
Yes. A plant-based diet that eliminates animal products and minimizes fats leads to significant reductions in liver fat, with vegetables, fruits, beans, and whole grains playing key roles due to color, antioxidants, and fiber.
