  • Great podcast but needs a co-host

Great topics and guests. I do really like Rip but he’s not a great interviewer. I think the show would benefit by having another host to help him out

  • Ticks and the diseases they carry…

Instead of joking about introducing 50% of the population to a disease that ticks carry…maybe you could find some plant based ways for people and their pets to keep ticks from biting in the first place. Or a plant based way to eradicate ticks completely from this Earth. We can’t go outside anymore year round because of them. Lyme and all the other diseases they carry destroys people’s lives, as well as dogs and cats and moose and deer…and any other animal outside. Thank you.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Ep. 366: What Your Cholesterol Numbers Aren't Telling You: Dr. Daniel Chong Explains ApoB, Lp(a), Plaque, and Disease Prevention
Q: What about the coronary artery calcium score? Is it useful for everyone?
CAC scoring is most informative as people age or when there's a strong family history; a zero score in a younger person doesn't guarantee absence of noncalcified plaque, while a zero score in an older person is more reassuring but not definitive, so it should be used as part of a broader risk assessment.
Ep. 366: What Your Cholesterol Numbers Aren't Telling You: Dr. Daniel Chong Explains ApoB, Lp(a), Plaque, and Disease Prevention
Q: What test do you like to have patients perform?
A comprehensive panel including standard lipid panel, APO-B, lipoprotein(a), A1C, HS-CRP, and selective imaging like coronary calcium scoring when indicated to gauge plaque burden and inflammatory status, with further tests added based on individual risk and response.
Ep. 366: What Your Cholesterol Numbers Aren't Telling You: Dr. Daniel Chong Explains ApoB, Lp(a), Plaque, and Disease Prevention
Q: What is your take on LDL cholesterol? Do we want it low and for how long?
LDL should be considered in the context of particle number and overall cardiovascular risk; lowering LDL to very low levels is beneficial for many, but individual factors and adherence to lifestyle changes influence what level is optimal, with some patients achieving excellent outcomes without drugs through diet and lifestyle.
Ep. 365: Kendale Ritchey, DPM - A Podiatrist’s Own 30-Year Mystery Illness Solved with Plants — and the Devastating Effects of Diabetes on Your Feet
Q: What sparked Kendale Ritchey's shift toward a plant-based lifestyle?
Watching medical documentaries Fat, Sick & Nearly Dead and Forks Over Knives with his wife made him realize that inflammation from the standard American diet could be driving his mysterious symptoms, prompting a move to a whole-food, plant-based approach.
Ep. 362: Why You Eat When You’re Not Hungry — and How to Stop with Dr. Jud Brewer
Q: Why does willpower almost always fail against cravings?
Because willpower is increasingly argued to be a myth or a depleted resource; understanding brain reinforcement and habit formation offers a more reliable path to change.
