Reviews

4.5 out of 5 stars from 8.1k ratings
  • His guests are terrible. Mia Khalifa lecturing on shame, Headie One glamorising childish rap feuds, Katie Price telling us she's "not perfect" and disapproving of young plastic surgery. Voices of delusion.

Louis seems to have lost his edge. I can't tell if it's his bland guest list, or his habit of recycling questions, but it's a shame that he's mellowed so much.

Edit - The Armie Hammer ep was great, I hope it's the sign of a new direction

  • Louis is king

I love this podcast. It allows Louis to let his silly side show more, which I really missed over the more serious documentaries he was making. I like that it’s a two way conversation. Sometimes he does cover old ground too much, but in general, this is too Louis action. Best podcast!

S7 EP4: Stewart Lee on "Netflix comedians”, disastrous gigs, and Elon Musk
Q: How do you balance being in character with delivering honest commentary on other comedians?
Lee describes shifting in and out of character to diffuse tension, using tone shifts and a mix of snobbery and empathy to engage audiences while still challenging conventional norms.
S7 EP1: Boris Becker on encountering Diddy, mind-games with Nadal and his spell in prison
Q: Did high-profile status affect your treatment in prison?
It helped that I wasn't immediately treated as a celebrity; they saw me as a person who needed protection, and I tried not to rely on status but on smart, calm decisions for safety.
S7 EP1: Boris Becker on encountering Diddy, mind-games with Nadal and his spell in prison
Q: What would you say were the set of skills you needed to survive in prison?
You need to read the room quickly, identify who is in charge, and align with a group for protection; also, staying true to yourself and not pretending to be someone you're not was crucial.
S6 EP5: David Byrne on clashes in Talking Heads, neurodivergence, and culture wars
Q: What was unique about the Stop Making Sense concert film?
Byrne describes how the film revealed how the music was put together, creating a narrative arc rather than a sequence of separate songs.
