Question, why are UK quiz shows always asking questions about the US? Watching Finish Line, Tipping Point, The Chase they all have questions about things in the US. On US shows do the have questions about the UK?

Frankly, having adverts in the paid subscription is beyond annoying and I shall not be renewing because of this. Bad move by goalhanger

  • Most amusing

I love this podcast and was coming on to say what so many others have already commented on. Richard, I say this with love, please try not to talk over Marina. You are a great partnership but it’s such a bad look to cut someone off mid speech- especially someone as hilarious as your co-host.

  • fun but privileged: entertaining but biased

Does what it say on the tin. It’s entertaining and gives a little glimpse behind the scenes. Snide remarks against Meghan Markle are inexplicable and lower the tone somewhat. Sneering is such an ugly trait seen far too often in posh privately educated people in the U.K.

I kinda liked it for a while but the smugness and richard being such a know it all has worn thin. The adverts make me want to gag.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

The Toughest Job In Entertainment
Q: How are musicals translated to fit rhythm and rhyme in languages with very different syllable structures?
Translation is extremely difficult: translators must fit three-note musical phrases with three-syllable words, sometimes creating new compound words or using anglicisms to preserve rhythm while maintaining meaning, a process that can take years.
The Toughest Job In Entertainment
Q: Two films with large fanbases releasing on the same weekend: is it a bold move to draw in younger audiences or a risky gamble?
They conclude it's likely unwise in this specific case to pit such different audience-driven films against each other, noting that one audience could cannibalize the other and margins depend heavily on event marketing and IMAX exposure.
The Chappell Roan Bodyguard Drama
Q: What are the bonuses and negatives of a medical procedural TV show trying to be so realistic?
The guests explain that pushing realism in medical dramas can provide honesty and specificity, but excessive documentary-like realism can invite critique about dramatic license; the dialogue often seeks to balance accuracy with engaging storytelling and screenwriting constraints.
The Chappell Roan Bodyguard Drama
Q: How do actors know when it is time to say goodbye to a show?
Lisa Kudrow and Michael Patrick King note that actors want to leave while they're still at the top or before stories feel strained, while writers assess the narrative's momentum and whether continuing would water down the concept; in some cases, a show's end becomes a purposeful trilogy rather than repeating seasons.
Are Celebrities Being Cloned?
Q: What have been the most outlandish celebrity conspiracy theories in history and have any of them proved true?
The hosts discuss multiple high-profile rumors, noting that many claimed examples of cloning or replacement have not been proven true, and emphasize that some stories arise from misinterpretation or performative aspects of celebrity personas.
