  • Jews and Muslims

Can Rory please walk across Israel sometime? I’m neither Jewish nor Muslim, and it’s clear he is a good man who thinks he’s unbiased. Today’s show quoted numbers that seemed to cast Antisemitic attacks and Islamophobic attacks as equal concerns, leaving out context that in the 2021 census data for England and Wales, there were about 3.9 million Muslims, and 280 thousand Jews. So overall attacks are shockingly higher on Jews. There’s a word for that. What is the phenomenon called when you believe... more

  • Unfollowing

Used to love the balanced opposing views and Rory’s clever summaries of events - but AC is OUT OF CONTROL with left wing rants. Boring, tedious, unbalanced tripe

  • Terrible

I can’t believe what I’m hearing. The discussion is on antisemitism and AC is making excuse after excuse for it however he can such as ‘It’s the Russians, It’s Iran it’s a mentally unstable person, but wait wait there’s hatred against Muslims…..’I can hear very well what he really thinks by the undertone of all he says. Stop making excuses for antisemitism! Won’t be listening anymore.

  • Disingenuous

On your most recent episode on antisemitism, it is odd to discuss pool a topic without referring the incredibly high levels of antisemitism within the British Muslim community and the threat of violence emanating from Islamists. By ignoring the elephant in the room, the presenters come across as being completely disingenuous. The recent acts of antisemitism have all been committed by British Muslims (or by Iran). British Jews are not going out and killing British Muslims; there is not an equival... more

  • Terrible editing

Did the work experience kid so the editing for the show this week? Almost unlistenable in parts, sentences were cut, adverts started mid-advert randomly. Hard to listen to

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Struggling or Snowflakes? The Gen Z Mental Health Story
Q: I asked her why she thinks young people's mental health diagnoses have skyrocketed over the last 20 years.
The guest explains that multiple factors are at play, including greater awareness, more willingness to discuss mental health, and changes in how symptoms are recognized and labeled, along with cultural shifts in talking about mental health.
535. The Ebola Outbreak and the British Far-Right’s Next Move
Q: Given recent revelations about Nigel Farage's funding and Reform UK's growing profile, how concerned should mainstream politics be about far-right street movements transitioning into the ballot box?
There should be serious concern about rising support for far-right movements translating into electoral influence, as evidenced by public demonstrations and shifting party loyalties, which risk normalizing exclusionary rhetoric and influencing mainstream policy.
532. The Trump-Xi Showdown and Putin’s Conscription Con
Q: Question from Harry. Is Putin making noises about the Ukraine war coming to an end, just him buying time for Iran to stuff his coffers again, Alastair?
Putin appears to be signaling a managed pause rather than a decisive end, leveraging timing with Iran and other strategic moves to maintain leverage, while Ukraine continues to resist and adapt to shifts in manpower and terrain.
519. Trump's NATO Threat & a Critical Election in Hungary (Question Time)
Q: What are your thoughts on the extortionate ticket prices at the World Cup next summer?
The hosts vent about skyrocketing travel and ticket costs, reflecting broader concerns about the commercialization of major global events and national sports culture, while also noting political optics of FIFA leadership.
519. Trump's NATO Threat & a Critical Election in Hungary (Question Time)
Q: After nearly two decades in power, could Viktor Orbán finally be unseated?
There is cautious speculation that Orbán could lose if the election is free and fair, but the episode discusses the risk of manipulation and the potential for a post-election street response similar to Belgrade 2000.
