  • Narrow-mindedness is never interesting or useful

Incredibly disappointing in the conversation about Murrell and Nicola Sturgeon, that both Rory and Alasdair were incredulous that she could not have known what was going on and had the gall to trot out the examples of their perfect little partnerships where all is shared and open. It served no purpose. There are many many different forms of partnership and companionship and to suggest that it is the “right” and “normal” thing to do - to share all and know all, is absurd and naive. As Alasdair... more

Very happy this podcast exists, more power to you both.. May I offer small advice to Rory; to slow it down a tiny bit and be mindful of croaking throat sound.. speak with a full voice..It is the essence of this podcast:) With appreciation & thanks!

  • Idea!

This is a great show, very informative and interesting. I like both Rory’s and Alastair’s level headed approach. In fact I would like to suggest Rory goes back into politics as a labour mp, as we all know he is really labour! Then with Alastair’s assistance go for labour leader and prime minister. The country I’m sure would benefit! Thank you and take care James

  • Selective & Slanted

I wonder how long it will take them to take a second to recognize the legal double-standard in the Nowak situation. Will likely be after things die down like it wasn’t a big deal. Every fundamental worth talking about never gets coverage.

  • Normalising Extremism

Please stop referring to Stephen Yaxley-Lennon as anything other than Stephen Yaxley-Lennon. It’s another example of extremists spinning against the truth.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

536. Is Trump’s Corruption Machine Reaching New Extremes?
Q: Is Donald Trump the most corrupt president the United States has ever had?
Yes. There are contenders, but Trump's combination of private-sector leverage, poaching money from outside traditional government channels, and systematic use of pardons and lawsuits marks a new, more expansive form of corruption.
Struggling or Snowflakes? The Gen Z Mental Health Story
Q: I asked her why she thinks young people's mental health diagnoses have skyrocketed over the last 20 years.
The guest explains that multiple factors are at play, including greater awareness, more willingness to discuss mental health, and changes in how symptoms are recognized and labeled, along with cultural shifts in talking about mental health.
535. The Ebola Outbreak and the British Far-Right’s Next Move
Q: Given recent revelations about Nigel Farage's funding and Reform UK's growing profile, how concerned should mainstream politics be about far-right street movements transitioning into the ballot box?
There should be serious concern about rising support for far-right movements translating into electoral influence, as evidenced by public demonstrations and shifting party loyalties, which risk normalizing exclusionary rhetoric and influencing mainstream policy.
532. The Trump-Xi Showdown and Putin’s Conscription Con
Q: Question from Harry. Is Putin making noises about the Ukraine war coming to an end, just him buying time for Iran to stuff his coffers again, Alastair?
Putin appears to be signaling a managed pause rather than a decisive end, leveraging timing with Iran and other strategic moves to maintain leverage, while Ukraine continues to resist and adapt to shifts in manpower and terrain.
519. Trump's NATO Threat & a Critical Election in Hungary (Question Time)
Q: What are your thoughts on the extortionate ticket prices at the World Cup next summer?
The hosts vent about skyrocketing travel and ticket costs, reflecting broader concerns about the commercialization of major global events and national sports culture, while also noting political optics of FIFA leadership.
