  • Great communication

International guests/profiles make this a favourite. Loved the heads of MI5 & MI6, Nicola Sturgeon and Prime Minister of Norway. Personality over politics sustains interest.

  • Some very interesting interviewees but Rory is a terrible interviewer, constantly asking guests to clarify or expand on points "for the listeners". Yes, yes, you're so much cleverer than us, but the trick is to have an informed but curious conversation, not show off how much research you've done. It's a real skill and one he's lacking. Alastair is much more natural, but the predictable pro-Labour ribbing of guests from across the divide is a bit cringe.

  • The elongated podcast previews are killing me! No William Dalrymple I’m not interested in your show.

Excellent podcast but the goalhanger self promotion and advertising is uninteresting to me and aggressively repetitive, playing the same clips 30 times does not inspire me to want to listen to it ever again, do you think this works?
