  • Can be variable caliber of subject matter and special guests. Rory's interview with Jack Clark, co-founder of Anthropic, absolutely superb and enlightening.

Great interview with Rahm Emanuel, and as always: your analysis afterwards is the best of it all. Thank you for that.

  • New look

Insightful and revealing interviews as always. I could have listened to Neil Kinnock all day, and the interview underlined yet again that he was the best PM we never had.

Just a slight concern about the new look icon: you two besuited gents look the very essence of suave, but the positioning of Alistair's head obscures the 'e' in 'Leading' so it looks like 'Politics Fading' 🥴. I'm sure I can't be the only one seeing the image this way every time!

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

201. How Westminster Breaks Politicians and Why Britain Isn't Ready for War
Q: What motivated you to enter politics with veterans' reform as a central goal?
He explains the system's failings and his desire to push for real change despite political risk, rather than engage in performative gestures.
201. How Westminster Breaks Politicians and Why Britain Isn't Ready for War
Q: Johnny, tell us about your time in the military and what it taught you about leadership.
Mercer shares his Marines/Army background, the values he carried, and how frontline service shaped his views on duty, leadership, and accountability in politics.
197. The Billionaire Tax Debate (Gabriel Zucman)
Q: How would you prevent tax avoidance through holding companies and tax havens?
Use a wealth-based floor with a pre-populated return and robust data sharing; extend tail taxation for those who move abroad, and rely on international cooperation while enabling unilateral action.
197. The Billionaire Tax Debate (Gabriel Zucman)
Q: Would a wealth tax discourage entrepreneurship or innovation?
Zucman argues that at the proposed low rate (2% of wealth) and with the wealth base concentrated among the ultra-rich, there is little evidence that entrepreneurship would be dampened; the historical example of high top marginal rates did not curb growth, and investment in public goods can enhance productivity.
198. How Trump’s Imperial Presidency Really Works
Q: What role did aides like Stephen Miller play in shaping policy during the interregnum and term two?
Aides like Miller had long-range visions and actively pursued agendas such as dismantling the deep state and expanding presidential powers, influencing how Trump's second term unfolded even as other advisers disagreed.
