  • Sexist

I’m a woman who loves strength training and learning about strength training. I’ve worked with a male trainer and a female trainer and learned a lot from each of them. When I hear your cliched story of the male conspiracy to keep women from lifting weights and your use of sexist comments like “toxic masculinity” and “gym bros” I start to question your judgement and desire to think critically. For example, why would you encourage women who enjoy yoga or pilates to continue doing them, despit... more

  • Excellent information

Not only up to date on science based information but also great positive attitude and understanding of the issues facing women and health. Lots of practical advice too. Good example was their podcast about weight equipment to consider for the home so you don’t have to go the gym. Each podcast has something of value. Terrific find. 5 stars.

  • So much hate!

The episode attacking MIDI Health was the first episode I’ve listened to and it was such a turnoff to listen to 3 women bash other women for an hour, and push their political views multiple times. No thank you! I’m

  • Since you asked…

Terrific resource. Does help point me to the gym and is a factor is gradually helping me over come my fear of free weights and

Bar-bells. Definitely am convinced I need to lift more and move more.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

132: Dr. Stu Phillips Part 1: Bone Density and Scientific Nuance
Q: What should listeners take away for designing bone-health programs for older adults?
Focus on site-specific loading, incorporate hip-hinge movements to engage the femoral neck, use weight-bearing and impact-based activities, and prioritize consistency and gradual progression over chasing maximal loads in every session.
132: Dr. Stu Phillips Part 1: Bone Density and Scientific Nuance
Q: Is the proximity-to-failure concept as crucial for bone as it is for muscle?
Not exactly; bone's response seems less tied to proximity to failure and more to a combination of loading patterns over time, site-specific loading, and overall consistency; there is still a role for heavier loads, but more loads appear to contribute to bone improvements than previously thought.
132: Dr. Stu Phillips Part 1: Bone Density and Scientific Nuance
Q: What motivated you to write about the bone-density meta-analysis years after it was published?
I was drawn by the intersection of muscle and bone, and by the need to shift the paradigm from a heavy-load-only view to one where lighter and moderate loads can also drive meaningful bone adaptations; combined with observing the real-world impact of outdated narratives on women's health.
124: Doctor or Brand? Amanda Thebe on the Midi Health Model
Q: What should listeners do to protect themselves when navigating menopause care online or through telemedicine?
Listeners should consult reputable sources like menopause societies, seek certified providers, gather symptoms and medication history before visits, and be prepared to ask for evidence-based options while avoiding unproven, expensive products.
124: Doctor or Brand? Amanda Thebe on the Midi Health Model
Q: How do venture capital and pricing strategies affect menopause care in this space?
The guests argue that VC funding creates pressure for rapid returns, which can push care toward high-margin, long-term upsell products rather than sustained, evidence-based treatment; they emphasize transparent ethics and patient-centered care over investor-driven growth.
