I always enjoy your podcast and am a long time listener. I felt like you really fell short though on the episode of how need people to engage in the arts and creativity for increased well-being. When you talked about people into their 60’s, 70’s etc you said for them to appreciate their grandchildren? This is so reductionist and cliche? I won’t have grandkids and am an artist in my 60’s and have never felt more engaged because of my practice and how much creativity I have in my life. And your r... more

What a wonderful podcast episode. Fascinating insight into biology, sense of self and mortality. All spoken of in the warmest, lilting voice of Dr Jenna. Voices make such a difference generally, but especially on a podcast and her voice drew me in. I’ve pre-ordered the paperback version of her book.

Dr Amir Levine’s discussion on attachment was so liberating for me to listen to as opposed to what used to seem so fixed and constricting. Thanks for creating this thought provoking episode

The Simple Nutrient That Could Transform Your Gut Health, Brain Power & Longevity with Dr Emily Leeming #658
Q: What is the impact of menopause on the gut microbiome and how can women optimise this?
Menopause shifts the microbiome due to hormonal changes, potentially influencing digestion and symptom experience. While evidence is still evolving, many find that maintaining a plant-forward, fibre-rich pattern supports their gut and may help manage menopausal symptoms, though individual approaches vary and professional guidance is helpful.
The Life Changing Magic Of Walking & How To Do It Better with Dr Courtney Conley #660
Q: How should walking be integrated with strength training for older adults?
Maintain a daily walking habit for cardiovascular and mobility benefits, but also schedule regular strength and power training, such as calf raises and fast-paced movements, to preserve functional reserve and reduce fall risk.
The Life Changing Magic Of Walking & How To Do It Better with Dr Courtney Conley #660
Q: What are some practical steps for transitioning from cushioned shoes to minimalist ones?
Start by expanding toe box space, then gradually reduce heel-to-toe drop in stages, monitor comfort, and while transitioning, keep enough time for foot strengthening and gradual exposure; avoid jumping to minimalist shoes for long runs too soon.
The Life Changing Magic Of Walking & How To Do It Better with Dr Courtney Conley #660
Q: Is 10,000 steps really a myth?
Yes, the 10,000-step target originated as a marketing campaign in the 1960s and there isn't strong science backing that exact number for everyone; the key is reaching enough daily activity to maximize health, which varies individually.
How To Recover From Burnout (It’s Not What You Expect) with Pippa Grange #656
Q: How can people start to move away from overperforming toward regeneration?
Begin with pauses to check in with the body, practice honesty about what you feel and need, and design small, regular adjustments (nudges) that fit into daily life without requiring dramatic overhauls.
