  • Too much incorrect information

Richard won’t challenge his guests when they spout obviously incorrect or unsubstantiated claims Do better Richard.

  • Mediocre

Takes on interview and makes a week long series, lazy and uncommitted. I’ve heard these guest before in other shows, they were better elsewhere.

  • Excellent guests presented in short segments

The moderator of this podcast, only identified as “Richard” lets his outstanding guests assume the star role as they explain their important research. I don’t know who “Richard” is, but the high caliber of his guests makes me think he is someone who is respected in the medical research community. Interviews are broken up into short segments which makes it easy to digest the information and fit the podcast into a busy schedule. Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

The 20-Minute Strength Protocol: Reversing Muscle Loss After 60 | Dr Brad Shoenfeld
Q: Are supplements necessary for most people to support muscle retention with aging?
Supplements are not mandatory; food-first is preferred, but creatine is a well-supported option for many older adults to enhance strength and hypertrophy, especially for those with lower baseline stores or vegan diets.
The 20-Minute Strength Protocol: Reversing Muscle Loss After 60 | Dr Brad Shoenfeld
Q: What role does protein and leucine play in the aging muscle response, and how much should be consumed per meal?
Older adults show anabolic resistance, requiring higher protein doses per meal to stimulate muscle protein synthesis; leucine threshold is important, with around 4 grams of leucine per serving being beneficial, which often translates to 30–45 grams of high-quality protein (e.g., whey) per meal depending on the protein source.
The 20-Minute Strength Protocol: Reversing Muscle Loss After 60 | Dr Brad Shoenfeld
Q: Should older adults focus on heavy lifting or can lighter loads still be effective?
Heavy lifting is not necessary for the majority; moderate reps (8–15) with near-failure effort can achieve substantial strength and functional gains while being easier on joints, provided effort is high and form is maintained.
The 20-Minute Strength Protocol: Reversing Muscle Loss After 60 | Dr Brad Shoenfeld
Q: How should an older adult approach training volume and frequency to maintain muscle?
Older adults generally need lower training volumes to recover; a practical approach is roughly four to six sets per muscle per week or total-body routines with 1–2 sets per major muscle group two times per week, tailored to individual recovery and capability.
Should You Take a Multivitamin? A Harvard Researcher’s Verdict | Dr Howard Sesso & Dr Li Sidong
Q: What are the practical implications for individuals considering a multivitamin?
There is no blanket recommendation; a daily multivitamin may be a low-cost, safe option that could help with nutritional biomarkers and potentially slow aging for those with certain baseline risks or deficiencies, but lifestyle and diet remain foundational.
