  • Too much incorrect information

Richard won’t challenge his guests when they spout obviously incorrect or unsubstantiated claims Do better Richard.

  • Mediocre

Takes on interview and makes a week long series, lazy and uncommitted. I’ve heard these guest before in other shows, they were better elsewhere.

  • Excellent guests presented in short segments

The moderator of this podcast, only identified as “Richard” lets his outstanding guests assume the star role as they explain their important research. I don’t know who “Richard” is, but the high caliber of his guests makes me think he is someone who is respected in the medical research community. Interviews are broken up into short segments which makes it easy to digest the information and fit the podcast into a busy schedule. I only wish he would release all of the segments for an interview at ... more

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Targeting Visceral Fat and the Future of Weight-Independent Longevity| Dr. Mikhail Kolonin
Q: Is there evidence that GLP-1s extend lifespan, or do they simply improve healthspan?
There is no solid data showing lifespan extension in humans or animals; however, GLP-1s improve metabolic health, reduce obesity-related pathologies, and may modestly extend healthspan, with ongoing discussions about potential effects on longevity through mechanisms like fat browning and improved glucose metabolism.
Targeting Visceral Fat and the Future of Weight-Independent Longevity| Dr. Mikhail Kolonin
Q: Do GLP-1 agonists affect muscle, and if so, how can this be mitigated?
Yes, they can promote muscle loss beyond what is expected from caloric restriction. Mitigation strategies include high-protein diets and exercise; additional approaches such as IL-6 receptor blockade or myostatin/activin pathways may help, though these require clinical validation.
Targeting Visceral Fat and the Future of Weight-Independent Longevity| Dr. Mikhail Kolonin
Q: Can GLP-1s be taken orally, or are they only injected?
Originally they were injected because the natural hormone is unstable, but newer formulations including oral peptides and small-molecule GLP-1 receptor modulators are in development, with oral versions potentially replacing injections if they perform similarly.
Targeting Visceral Fat and the Future of Weight-Independent Longevity| Dr. Mikhail Kolonin
Q: What is it that GLP-1 agonists are famous for in the context of weight loss?
They mimic the natural GLP-1 hormone, activate GLP-1 receptors throughout the body, reduce appetite, slow gastric emptying, and improve insulin/glucose handling, which together drive weight loss. Some effects occur independently of weight loss, indicating broader metabolic actions.
Are Mitochondria the Real Driver of Aging? | Dr Luigi Ferrucci
Q: For a layperson, what practical biomarkers or lifestyle indicators should they monitor to gauge aging risk?
Conventional markers like cholesterol, triglycerides, and glucose are still important, but more sophisticated biomarkers—such as those measuring mitochondrial function, inflammatory signaling, and proteomic/epigenetic aging clocks—will increasingly inform personalized prevention strategies. Regular exercise, sleep, and diet that supports metabolic health remain foundational.
