  • Advertisements couched in education

These started out pretty good. At this point, however, each podcast is an advertisement for whatever company or health system is being interviewed. There is absolutely no pushback about claims made, even when they tread into the ridiculous, and almost all answers sound thoroughly scripted. This is a great example of what NOT to do with a podcast.

  • Great Listen!

Mid career mastery was my first listen and I must say hearing about one’s journey on how they landed where they are currently is encouraging & insightful, especially in the world of all things healthcare.

Compassionate Leadership: A Conversation With Samuel Soltis, PhD, LFACHE
Q: Correctional healthcare is often overlooked as a career path. What are some common misconceptions, and how would you encourage upcoming leaders to consider this field?
Misconceptions include that the environment is dangerous, the quality is poor, and that advancing there is a dead-end. In reality, it offers unique challenges, opportunities for innovation, and the chance to influence public health broadly by serving underserved populations.
Compassionate Leadership: A Conversation With Samuel Soltis, PhD, LFACHE
Q: First off, we have to start with congrats on winning ACHE's Lifetime Service and Achievement Award. So what does that honor mean to you?
It's a recognition from colleagues and healthcare leaders that highlights decades of service, collaboration, and mentorship, and it underscores the importance of the people who invested in me over the years.
Beyond the Numbers: How CFOs Turn Insight Into Action
Q: What would you say is the best move CEOs and CFOs should make in the next 90 days to build resilience?
Take an honest assessment of capabilities, identify strengths and opportunities, understand marketplace dynamics, and explore partnerships or internal changes in service lines, payer contracting, supply chain, and revenue cycle to build scalable capabilities.
Beyond the Numbers: How CFOs Turn Insight Into Action
Q: How would you suggest leaders bridge the gap between traditional financial oversight and frontline reality?
Establish real-time visibility into performance drivers, align clinical, operational, and financial teams around common objectives, and create systems that translate performance data into actionable steps for frontline leaders.
Beyond the Numbers: How CFOs Turn Insight Into Action
Q: So Bill, what actually separates the CFOs that are adapting to that mandate from the ones that are falling behind?
CFOs who succeed are those who act as strategic leaders, partnering with the executive team to set direction, allocate capital, and respond to market dynamics, while building capacity within the organization and within themselves to respond to change.
