  • Good content, poor audio

I really enjoy most of the content from this podcast, but the audio quality is frequently very poor. The interview guests sound fades in and out, and sometimes can’t be heard at all. I hope that the producers will listen to their own podcasts and try to address these issues. It’s a shame that this can be so frustrating to listen to.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Life Settlements w/ Rob Haynie, Managing Director, Life Insurance Settlements, Inc. 7/1/25
Q: What is life insurance, who needs it, and when is it typically purchased?
Life insurance is protection against unforeseen events, primarily to maintain the household's lifestyle and support wealth or estate planning. It's often purchased when people start jobs, marry, or have children, with term policies being common for affordability.
Funeral Planning w/ Sara Williams, President, Funeral Consumers Alliance 10/14/25
Q: Why is prepaid funeral funding discouraged, and what should families know about preplanning vs prepaid plans?
Prepaying is risky because the funeral home could go out of business and funds may not transfer or be protected; instead, plan and write down your wishes, and don't commit financially in advance beyond planning.
Funeral Planning w/ Sara Williams, President, Funeral Consumers Alliance 10/14/25
Q: When should funeral planning occur, and what are the benefits of early planning?
Plan early, starting in adulthood, to become aware of mortality, discuss wishes with family, and set a budget so you're prepared and not caught off guard.
Creative Writing w/ Katherine Schweit, JD, Author, Attorney, Former Senior FBI Official 9/9/25
Q: What practical steps should older adults take to begin writing or publish their work?
She advises starting with what you know, gathering material, using writing prompts, joining groups, and choosing a publishing path (traditional vs self-publishing) based on one's goals and resources. She stresses the importance of editing and finding a supportive editor or publishing service to guide the process.
Creative Writing w/ Katherine Schweit, JD, Author, Attorney, Former Senior FBI Official 9/9/25
Q: How would you describe the difference between writing fiction and non-fiction, and how does that influence your work as a writer?
She explains that most writing is fictional in a broad sense, but creative non-fiction allows her to tell real events with more descriptive language and atmosphere. She emphasizes using real details, weather, and emotions to bring true events to life, while still honoring factual accuracy.
