  • Changing my life!

I came across this podcast accidentally and listened to an episode and it really hit home.

It was suggested to me by my therapist about 12 years ago that I might have ADD. I was skeptical, and honestly didn’t like the thought of it, but I did talk to my doctor and I tried Vyvanse. It did nothing for me so I thought, “well I don’t have that!”

All these years later, I still struggle. It’s been on my mind a lot over the last year, and I still don’t like the label of ADHD, so I’ve decided for me ... more

  • This is awesome!

Donae, thank you so much for all your informative dialogue. I’m 54 and only just diagnosed with ADHD. I could never understand why I was different to others, why I could never really listen, why my 3 marriages failed, why I was so easily distracted, and the list goes on… So many tools to use from your podcasts. Thank you so so much ❤️❤️

  • ADHD Brains Rejoice!

Donae is so down to earth and real about her struggles with ADHD as well as ways to help and get support as someone with ADHD. This shoow is great and I was so pleased to be a guest on it during the Spring 2022 season and talk about the role of EFT and Nervous System Regulation in helping with ADHD as well as High Functioning Anxiety. Thanks, Donae, for the high value episodes and also for your curiousity and sense of humor infused in each one!

Ep 91. ADHD and Late Diagnosis: Interview with Meredith Carder
Q: What would you tell someone newly diagnosed what they could do this week to begin this journey?
Start with one thing at a time and approach that as you're experimenting; also, find support in whatever form is comfortable for you.
Ep 91. ADHD and Late Diagnosis: Interview with Meredith Carder
Q: If you're newly diagnosed, what other things do you think are important for them to know, to learn?
Understand that their feelings at that time might not be what they expected them to be, including potential grief after the diagnosis.
Ep 91. ADHD and Late Diagnosis: Interview with Meredith Carder
Q: What's your experience with the way getting diagnosed well in adulthood impacts you?
There's a lot we have to start unpacking and unwinding in terms of coping mechanisms we've built over the years.
77. Trauma, ADHD, or Both?
Q: Is there anyone who shouldn't do EMDR or anyone that maybe EMDR is not the right tool for them?
It depends on readiness to explore painful feelings and thoughts. If someone is in a chaotic personal situation, it may not be a good time to start EMDR.

Therapy goes very slow, and the person has complete control. Safeguards are in place, and each session begins and ends with calming techniques.
