Really well done and events I’d never heard of.
I grew up in Perth but only have vague recollections of the events described in this podcast. Giving an insider’s perspective of what happened and how it effected the Asian community helped me gain a better understanding of that time. As a young person I was probably oblivious of the undercurrent of racism that existed then and probably still does now.
I remember this time in Perth. It is important to acknowledge and remember. We can never tolerate hatred for any reason and particularly as racism is totally irrational. I wonder if anyone ever asked van Tongeren why?
I admire you for to putting the spot light on the appalling undercurrent of bigotry and racism in this country. more
Excellent reporting! Very important for us all to learn what happened and to all Australians understand the reach of racism, it’s effects on society and more importantly on individuals. We’re all human beings with the same feelings and needs, and this podcast captures this concept perfectly and it is very entertaining, as well. A 10 out of 10 for the two reporters who are wonderful humans, to boot! I’m sharing it with as many people as I can. Thanks!
