Great story, great characters almost ruined by the narrator. She sounds like an over zealous primary school teacher trying to really emphasise everything to six year olds. At times I thought she was auditioning for the old ‘Fast Forward’ TV show. The story holds all the drama, no need for the sensationalist inflections or draaaaaging out words for effect. Let the people involved tell the story - facilitate their story don’t over egg your part like a 16 year old drama student. You’re welcome.
I binged Series 2 in an evening and was absolutely riveted by such an amazing story of survival. Piia’s voice is so well suited to this kind of storytelling and I found her such a compelling narrator. She has a natural warmth and regard for the people she is both talking to and about. I never usually take the time to write a review but this was an exceptional podcast. Five stars!
While probably an interesting story, the narration was way too slow and convoluted, and I eventually drifted off in search of something else…
The host has such a lovely voice, and this podcast was very well researched and constructed. Thoroughly recommend!
Couldn’t stop listening; a great story! more
