  • Claremont

I really wanted to listen to the podcast. But I only made it through 1 and a half episodes because of the that INCESSANT IRRITATING AND REPETITIVE MUSIC every time there’s a pause. You don’t need that the whole way through. It ruined it.

  • Never speak without a lawyer

The temerity of the reporter in Ep 2 saying “we’re all in hurry”, after harassing Lance for ages in an impromptu interview. Twisting his words and creating a spectacle for public opinion. Quality Investigative journalism this is not

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

CLAREMONT: The 'Sliding Doors' Moments
Q: What happens at lunchtime when the court adjourns?
The accused may meet with his lawyer during lunch breaks; sometimes meals are provided, and it's an opportunity for counsel to clarify instructions and update the client on the morning's proceedings.
CLAREMONT: The Trial Begins
Q: What impact does graphic detail have on the court and families?
Experts suggest the details have emotional weight but legally can be limited in impact; the judiciary and counsel strive to balance transparency with the need to avoid sensationalism.
CLAREMONT: The Trial Begins
Q: Why might the recording of Sarah Spiers' taxi call have been played in opening statements?
The panel explains it serves to contextualize the chronology and place the events in time, aiding fair presentation and helping the court understand the timeline and connections to the allegations.
CLAREMONT: The Trial Begins
Q: If you contacted a lawyer, the first thing that we're likely to tell you is no comment. And I don't know whether you would class that as coaching them or counselling or whatever you would think that is.
Experts note that 'no comment' is a common legal strategy to avoid statements that could be used against a person, while acknowledging that the approach is part of a broader preparation and defense strategy.
CLAREMONT: The Case Against Bradley Robert Edwards
Q: Can you take us through this incident? And we'll explain that some of this stuff is pretty graphic, but can you take us a bit through the Caracatta Cemetery sexual assault?
The hosts summarize the Caracatta Cemetery incident, detailing the victim's abduction, hooding, and sexual assault, and explain how this act fits into the broader pattern prosecutors are alleging, including the alleged escalation from earlier prowling to more violent crimes.
