  • The best pregnancy podcast

I listened to so many episodes all through my pregnancy. At the end of my pregnancy, I had hypertension and was induced. Because of this podcast, I had a general idea of what was happening to me and when things were suggested (foley balloon, etc) I had an idea of what was happening and everything wasn’t a shock. It really gave me a baseline to build of knowledge to build upon! Dr Fox is so knowledgeable and provides evidence based information!

  • Great for expectant fathers too!

This is a super useful podcast—and not just for ob/gyn patients! I find it extraordinarily helpful to support my wife, understand what she’s going through, and help plan intelligent questions for doctor visits. The style and level of detail are also great—makes me question whether I should’ve become an OB rather than a lawyer! Keep the great episodes coming!

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Mailbag 32: "What does the Fox say" - With Dr. Nathan Fox
Q: Is there any connection between Braxton Hicks and overall fitness or lifestyle, and do they relate to preterm labor risk?
There is no strong evidence that higher fitness or lifestyle factors increase Braxton Hicks frequency; they can occur after activity or sex, and irregular, infrequent Braxton Hicks do not typically indicate a higher risk of preterm labor.
Mailbag 32: "What does the Fox say" - With Dr. Nathan Fox
Q: Why do Braxton Hicks happen, and what does it mean to have an active uterus?
Braxton Hicks contractions occur as the uterus prepares for potential labor and appear at varying frequencies among individuals; an “active” uterus simply describes a tendency to have contractions more readily, which does not necessarily predict imminent labor.
“Newborns! Part B: The rough and tumble first few months” – with Dr. Tracy Agnese
Q: How often should a newborn be fed and what about fever after vaccines?
Feeding every 2-3 hours is typical until weight stabilizes, and fever can occur after vaccines but is usually mild; dosing guidance should be followed, and next-day follow-up is common for newborns.
“Newborns! Part B: The rough and tumble first few months” – with Dr. Tracy Agnese
Q: What are the most common concerns parents bring up in the first week after birth?
The pediatrician highlights hiccups, sneezing, congestion, and sleepy feeds as common, normal issues, with reassurance and practical tips like saline drops and gentle suction when needed.
“Newborns! Part A: From birth until you go home” – with Dr. Tracy Agnese
Q: What are the top five things you tell families before they go home from the hospital?
The five key points are feeding guidance (frequency and how to breastfeed), expectations about weight loss and gain, pee and poop patterns, when to call the doctor for fever or concerns, and the plan for follow-up visits including weight checks and bilirubin monitoring.
