I am currently 35 weeks pregnant with baby number 4. I used to teach child birth ed, was a doula, and I currently work as a firefighter paramedic. I will say I have a handle on anatomy and biology for the most part. That being said, if I’m listening to a podcast, and hear a person refer to a PREGNANT MOTHER as a “BIRTHING PERSON” while all in the same breath stating that said “BIRTHING PERSON’S” perineam resides between the VAGINA AND THE RECTUM, I have to stop listening. Super super unfortunate... more
While I appreciate the inclusion of personal stories and social justice in birth related content, I value the EBB episodes that focus on clinical evidence the most. EBB provides excellent research based information for clinicians and healthcare consumers. As a childbirth educator, EBB is one of my go-to resources when I need to refresh and check I have the latest research evidence on a variety of topics. Great for anyone interested in data for informed decision making.
As a doula, childbirth educator, and perinatal patient advocate, this is my go-to resource. It helps me learn and decipher the evidence on a wide variety of topics and it is also helpful to share with my clients and students. Highly recommend following this podcast and searching through the tremendous archive of past episodes.
I don’t want to listen to a podcast that refers to women as birthing people. The staff also lists their pronouns on the website, so it’s hard to take any of them seriously.
