The Truth Behind Boxed Warnings
Q: Is there any reconsideration of box warnings by the FDA?
Yes, box warnings can actually be taken away, but it's pretty rare that that happens. For instance, hormone replacement therapy recently had a box warning removed.
The Truth Behind Boxed Warnings
Q: How do you handle the conversation when a medication has a box warning?
I tell every patient that walks in, whether they're young or old, sick or healthy, and I'm giving them medication, I say, you may see a box warning. It likely won't apply to you.
From Anti-Aging To Skin Longevity With Vitamin C
Q: If somebody wanted to use it as a part of their nighttime routine, do you think that's kind of a no-no or would that be something you would encourage?
You don't need to put vitamin C on more than once a day; it's more beneficial to use it in the morning with sunscreen.
From Anti-Aging To Skin Longevity With Vitamin C
Q: Is there a recommendation we touched on a little bit just for concentration?
Concentration typically for L-ascorbic acid is around 10-15%, while tetrahexyldecyl ascorbate products can be around 20-30% and still well tolerated.
Eating Your Suncscreen? The Polypodium Secret
Q: Is there one way that if people were interested in adding this into the routine that you would actually recommend or you think there's evidence for that might work the best to see the benefits?
It's recommended to take Polypodium in gummy form for internal sun protection, as it has been shown to be beneficial when taken regularly while exposed to the sun.
