Great reviews. Love that Paul asks questions to clarify/ review the basics (questions that arise on the Hospitalist’s mind as we listen). The email digests are also excellent

Primary care doctors should feel comfortable prescribing symptomatic medications like Denepazil and Memantine.

Encouraging physical and social activity, managing vascular risk factors, and correcting hearing and vision loss are key components.

Q: How do we address this psychological disconnect when family perceptions differ from the patient’s outlook?
I usually start a visit saying, I’m going to ask a lot of questions and do this visit. How do we want to do this? Do we want to do this together? Do we want to split up?

Q: What are the next medications you reach for in your algorithm?
After disulfiram, I consider non-FDA approved medications like Topiramate and Gabapentin, which can be effective for treating alcohol use disorder, particularly for patients with specific needs.
