  • Advanced practice providers

I listened to the most recent podcast on APPs and taking the place of primary care physicians. I do think physicians have much more intensive training and just more training in general. • No longer EBM

This show was good when it was evidence-based medicine. What I heard today was 30 mins of non EBM, just opinions. Better options if you are looking for thoughtful opinions.

  • Pro calcitonin

    Love the podcasts.

Would like you to consider another look at pro calcitonin.Studies that are done by investigators with no financial conflict with the manufacturer of the test, have found it to be useless.

Health Expenditures of Patients With Diabetes After Bariatric Surgery
Q: What was the goal of the study?
To understand if long-term health expenditures were similar between patients undergoing gastric bypass and sleeved gastrectomy, particularly in a cohort of patients with type 2 diabetes.
Metabolic Dysfunction-Associated Steatotic Liver Disease
Q: Can we predict who's going to end up with cirrhosis?
Yes, if the Fib4 score is high or going up, then those are the ones that you want to get other fibrosis screening.
Metabolic Dysfunction-Associated Steatotic Liver Disease
Q: What can I do for the patient?
If you have the steatosis without inflammation, three to five percent of body weight will reverse the fatty liver; if you do have the inflammation, seven to ten percent of body weight loss can result in reversal of the fibrosis.
Metabolic Dysfunction-Associated Steatotic Liver Disease
Q: Should we be screening for this disease and trying to diagnose it early?
Yes, and absolutely. I think that your high-risk patients are type 2 diabetes patients and patients with obesity.
