  • Very Therapeutic. Blessed to have this

I’ve battled with bulimia for about 8 years now. Was diagnosed and first sought help about a year ago from today. When I go on my long city Walks I listen to this podcast to help me not feel so alone. Being a male with this disorder definitely can amplify those feelings of isolation, and as you’re much aware shame being the most prominent. Kate, And to all of those who've shared their story’s…. Thank you. You’ve all Been a glimmering light of hope for me.

  • My favorite ED podcast.

I have struggled with my eating disorder since first hospitalized in 1987.

Now over 3 decades later and multiple treatment centers I’m worn out.

Finding Kate’s podcast suddenly gave me hope and a renewed sense of determination.

Her interviews and educational episodes have truly helped incite me to keep trying despite being more hopeless than ever.

I purchased her book and workbook and I work through them with my therapist.

I also followed her online course and in time when I am more s... more

  • Awful start...

I am just under halfway through the first episode of season 1 and I am horrified by the misinformation/stereotypes the male interviewer is spouting out about bulimia. Not only that but he is forcing Kate (I believe that’s her name) to give percentages on recovery outcomes, reasons why bulimia develops, etc and that is not possible. Every human is different and every bulimic experience is unique.

I am hoping this podcast gets better but I highly recommend NOT listening to it if you are just begi... more

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Bulimia Sucks! | Episode 288 | Setback and Successes | Sarah Dosanjh
Q: Sorry, Sarah. So why do you think that happened?
Biological and hormonal factors were important—restriction likely triggered a biological vulnerability, and a pituitary tumor with hypothalamic effects disrupted appetite regulation, contributing to rapid weight gain and subsequent binge eating. Over time, treatment and hormone replacement helped reduce some of the symptoms, but the relationship with food remained complex and emotionally charged.
Bulimia Sucks! | Episode 282 | Setback and Successes | Jacqueline Davis
Q: What was the pivotal moment that helped you decide to change your approach to bulimia?
Jacqueline describes discovering that pausing before acting on urges, coupled with mindfulness work and coaching, allowed her to break the binge-purge pattern and gradually regain balance.
Bulimia Sucks! | Episode 281 | Learnings and successes | Robyn Goldberg
Q: What advice would you give someone thinking about taking their first step toward recovery?
She encourages reaching out to multiple providers to find good chemistry, emphasizes vulnerability as part of the process, and notes there is value in speaking with several clinicians to find the right fit.
Bulimia Sucks! | Episode 280 | Setback and Successes | Mia Findlay
Q: So Mia, what would you advise somebody who is going through an Eating Disorder to begin that recovery pathway?
Start by giving the experience language and seek out supportive, low-pressure resources; connect with hotlines or advocacy groups, and then take small, actionable steps toward treatment and building a support system.
Bulimia Sucks! | Episode 275 | Setback and Successes | Madeleine Karlsson
Q: What role did therapy and professional support play in her recovery?
She emphasizes that while her personal journey was central, working with a therapist and a nutritionist was essential to healing the relationship with food and her body, alongside moving into Pilates and mindful practices.
