  • Ackerman bribed me…

…with the promise of snuggles and Eskimo kisses, but he’s a cute (and maniacally persistent) lil gremlin, so who am I to deny some TLC?

He didn’t like my first review from… 4 years ago…? Ask him, I guess… I don’t remember the date, but I he could definitely tell you. He told me that he wrote it in his diary and detailed so many sleepless nights. 😮‍💨

Real talk, though, these guys are great! BHOTD is an incredible resource in any of the wide and varied forms they offer to absorb it. The podca... more

  • Great for CrossFit... not so much for conspiracy theories

Decent podcast when it comes to to discussing CrossFit, but one of the hosts seems to have gone down the conspiracy theory funnel. It’s not something uncommon to see in some CrossFit circles, but being able to hold information objectively is fairly important. My hope is that spiral out doesn’t continue to make its way into the episodes.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Is Xenom the Future of Competitive Fitness in CrossFit?
Q: Which would be more enticing to program for—the known games or the unknowns and new formats?
Programming for the unknown is more engaging; it presents a puzzle and requires adapting to each athlete's weaknesses, which keeps the coaching process dynamic and evolving.
The First Standardized Test of Fitness (And What It Means for Your Gym)
Q: Why create a new competition format rather than adapting existing ones?
To give affiliate owners a clear, scalable product that aligns with gym members' training without sacrificing the sport's core tenets, while providing a standardized scoring system and a global, brand-like experience that can grow the community and retention across studios.
The First Standardized Test of Fitness (And What It Means for Your Gym)
Q: What exactly does the race look like across the two days, and how are the events ordered?
It's a two-day sequence of 10 events with hourly to near-hourly breaks between stations, starting with a one‑minute max snatch, then rope climbs and wall walks, followed by a 60-second anaerobic bike test, barbell cycling, and finally a 2K ski and 3K run, with the second day focusing more on gymnastics and heavier lifting.
Kyle Pinkham just passed his CrossFit Level 4!
Q: What motivated you to pursue the Level 4 credential and how did you approach the process?
Kyle describes aiming for the pinnacle of coaching, the structured, self-guided nature of the L4 process, and the strategic decision to pick a gym and a set of members to train, which helped manage travel and ownership concerns. He emphasizes setting deadlines, breaking study into daily sessions, and using feedback to improve real-time coaching.
Do GLP-1s Belong in Your CrossFit Gym?
Q: What exactly are GLP-1s and how do they work in the body?
GLP-1s slow digestion, increase satiety, and can dramatically reduce appetite, which helps people eat less and potentially lose weight, especially when combined with healthy eating and exercise.
