  • How to go from scaled to rx?

Hey guys! I love your show and your real-life approach to CrossFit. I’d love to get your advice on how I can become an rx athlete?

I am a 37 year old mom of two young kids, and I workout at home. I have been doing CrossFit on and off since my mid-twenties. I’m what I’d consider a strong “scaled” athlete, and I’ve never quite been able to reach that “RX” level. Between having my two kids I gained a substantial amount of weight and stopped working out for a few years. Over the last 2.5 years I h... more

  • Question

Of the 10 fitness principles, tell me why strength isn’t the foundation for all others. If it is, then strength should be primary and the focus the majority of the time. You cannot balance without strength. You have no power without strength. You cannot have endurance without strength. Etc..

I would like to hear your thoughts.

  • We love your show!

My wife and I look forward to your podcasts and listen to them as we do low grade movement (walking) and zone 2 cardio. We are avid cross-fitters and my wife also coaches (level 1). I need to renew my level 1. CrossFit has profoundly impacted our lives for the better. We love the choice of topics and the guests you have on your show. A thought perhaps for some future guests? Casey and Calley Means authors of Good Energy and part of a group of founders of Levels? Keep up the wonderful work!

  • C4

Since I was in Aviation during my time in the US Marine Corps I never saw this personally but I always heard you could burn C4 or hit it with a hammer but you couldn’t do both it at the same time. I have heard both Pat and Boz separately and they are good. However together they are absolutely informative and inspiring to hear.

    Thanks

VNR #255: Help! I’m an exhausted 50 year old with 2 kids.
Q: Do you have any suggestions or comments on how to train while trying to balance life?
Consider adjusting your workout time to fit in more sleep, or find ways to integrate fitness into your daily routine instead of attending early morning classes.
VNR #249: Effective Goal Setting for the New Year!
Q: Are you a keep it to yourself kind of person or are you a put it out there for accountability type of person?
I'm generally a private person when it comes to goals, preferring to keep them to myself, though I won't lie if asked.
VNR #284: How To Return To Training After A Major Injury
Q: How should I approach CrossFit workouts when I return after a major injury?
Start with scaling and recognize that recovery won't be linear; find success stories to emulate, and take the time needed to rebuild confidence.
VNR #247: Can you be “Fit & Fluffy”?
Q: What's a good base of strict pull-ups?
A good base would be the ability to do a strict pull-up without hesitation, ideally aiming for three for women and five for men to start developing kipping pull-ups.
VNR #247: Can you be “Fit & Fluffy”?
Q: Can you be both fit and a bit fluffy?
Yes, it is possible to be fit and have a bit of extra weight, as performance doesn't necessarily correlate with being super lean.
