  • Logic and clarity in nutrition!

Happy to have found this pod - EC is articulate and offers loads of factual information. The interview format is effective and efficient! Don’t expect to hear long preambles and chit chat. They jump right in and tackle topics from cancer to bananas. All they are missing is a theme song by that guy from Islands.

Five Minute Answers: Iron Deficiency, Mobility Programs, Performance Supplements, & More
Q: How much whey protein is too much, and are bioimpedance scales worth it for the average person?
Whey intake should fit within total caloric and nutrient goals; excess protein often contributes unnecessary calories and reduces satiety. For body composition, track long-term trends rather than single readings, and use more reliable measures when possible.
Five Minute Answers: Iron Deficiency, Mobility Programs, Performance Supplements, & More
Q: What about Nomeo and sodium bicarbonate for lactate management in college athletes?
Evidence for Nomeo and bicarbonate is mixed; some studies show possible benefits in specific contexts, but there are risks of GI upset and contamination; in practice, test in training and rely on legal, well-supported approaches.
Five Minute Answers: Iron Deficiency, Mobility Programs, Performance Supplements, & More
Q: What is the stance on the Vanja.moves mobility system and similar mobility programs?
Mobility can help, but not all settings require extreme ROM; focus on function, individual limitations, and integrating mobility with strength and daily life rather than chasing perfect poses.
Five Minute Answers: Iron Deficiency, Mobility Programs, Performance Supplements, & More
Q: Is two runs a week enough to reach a 5K goal, and how should one structure training with a busy schedule?
Two runs can be a solid start; consider adding a third workout that includes strength work or interval variations and adjust based on how your body responds, aiming for gradual volume growth.
Five Minute Answers: Iron Deficiency, Mobility Programs, Performance Supplements, & More
Q: What is the recommended approach when fatigue suggests possible iron deficiency?
Test with CBC and ferritin panels to differentiate iron deficiency from other causes of fatigue, then tailor a targeted, evidence-based plan rather than simply increasing iron intake.
