  • New Recess episode

I love the new recess podcasts. One of the things I like about the Starrett’s is they let their guest talk and keep the discussion fun but centered around the guest. I get so tired of other podcasters who still just want to talk about themselves while they are interviewing a guest. But I like the new recess addition because I really do want to hear more of Juliet’s and Kelly’s thoughts and currents struggles and happenings. Love the new edition!!! Keep it up Starretts!

  • Good afternoon

Funny but slightly annoying when they’re talking about a very serious topic and then suddenly launch into a commercial about their favorite cookies and cream flavored sports drink and how much they love that, and how their kids just go crazy for lemon berry electrolytes. That is podcasting in 2026 I guess!

I have listened to the Starretts for a while now. I have read their book Born to Move as well. Their advice is great and I incorporate it into my everyday routines. They inspire me to live a better, healthier life! Very glad I found their podcast.

I’ve followed Kelly and Juliet Starrett since the early MobilityWOD days and even visited San Francisco CrossFit to learn from Kelly in person. Their teachings have shaped how I coach and helped countless clients move and live pain-free.

This podcast perfectly captures what makes them special—making performance, mobility, and pain-free living part of everyday conversation. It gets people talking about what fitness really means for them and how to quiet the industry noise to find what works.

Informative, entertaining and transformative, real questions by real people. Juliet and Kelly’s interview styles work well together; both asking questions in different ways that I wouldn’t have thought of. Both have a rich history in fitness and competition yet are real and relatable. Fabulous guests who are famous and experts in their own right

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Dr. Jeffrey Bland, Father of Functional Medicine, on Inflammation and Longevity
Q: What is one everyday food choice that you think helps people age faster?
If 15 to 20 percent of calories come from sugar, we are on a path to problems, because sugar drives inflammatory and glycation pathways that accelerate aging and disease.
How Constraints Boost Creativity, Focus & Performance | David Epstein
Q: Can you summarize the practical takeaway for listeners who want to apply constraint thinking today?
Start by making all commitments visible, then decide what to cut in the next 90 days, and learn to work in time-blocked modes to improve focus and reduce cognitive overload.
How Constraints Boost Creativity, Focus & Performance | David Epstein
Q: What motivated you to write a book about constraint-led thinking after Range?
Epstein explains that after Range there was demand for guidance on how to focus broad experiences into achievement, and constraints help people channel their toolbox effectively while reducing overwhelm.
Cesalina Gracie on Self-Belief, Women’s Safety, and Staying Calm Under Pressure
Q: How did Cesalina prepare for Everest in seven weeks, and what mindset carried her through?
She focused on targeted mountain-specific training with a renowned coach, prioritized learnings in knots, ropes, and self-rescue, and leveraged a deep belief in her mission to empower other women, which sustained her through extreme stress.
Biocentric Lighting for Better Sleep, Recovery, and Performance with Kyle Harris of BrainLit
Q: How does biocentric lighting rank relative to other health pillars?
Kyle Harris positions lighting as a pillar of health due to its influence on sleep and recovery, though it works in concert with nutrition and movement, and is especially impactful when integrated throughout a space rather than as a single device.
