  • Otherwise great

The theme song makes me want to kill my family. I eventually set my player (Overcast) to skip the intro and outro so that I don’t have to hear it a anymore.

  • Poor Mic Quality

Sother and Greg! Please invest in some quality microphones and recording/podcasting equipment. I started listening to the show many years ago but you guys have not evolved technically with the rest of the podcast world. Content is great but it’s painful to listen to such horrible audio quality. Greg especially- it sounds like you’re calling in from a pay phone inside a very large hollow room. I understand you stopped recording in person from Roberta’s when the pandemic hit, but that was four yea... more

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Tropical Scotch with Stewart Walker
Q: How does the cooling ring change the character of Fettercairn whisky?
The cooling ring creates a reflux that favors lighter, tropical notes and encourages contact with copper, leading to a smoother, fruitier spirit with a vibrant finish.
Long Beach's Secret Japanese Speakeasy with Kevin Lee
Q: What do you think about the Attaboy unionization decision?
The guests acknowledge that unions don't map neatly onto small, Attaboy-sized venues and suggest a bespoke approach or tailored contracts, while recognizing the potential for a positive, collaborative model.
A Sotol Difference with Aaron Dujovne
Q: And I want to dig into this whole Sotol versus Agave thing, because Sotol for our listeners, it's not an Agave product. It actually comes from the desert spoon plant. So what balance are you striking educating the consumer between informing them about your product and riding the Agave wave a little bit?
Aaron explains that Sotol's uniqueness comes from its desert-spoon origins and terroir. They emphasize correct naming (not an Agave product) while leveraging the growing interest in agave spirits to educate consumers about Sotol's distinct plant, terroirs, and production methods, aiming for longer-term recognition rather than quick branding shifts.
Night at The Museum with Misha Chavez & Bobbi Adler
Q: What inspired the museum-themed bar concept and how do you translate natural history into cocktails?
The concept stems from a love of Natural History Museums and a belief that bars can educate and unite people through curious, nature-inspired drinks that are presented with theatricality but maintain strong flavor and balance.
Who Pulls a Better Budweiser Than Me? with Robby Dow
Q: What have you learned about training the next generation of bartenders and baristas to work together?
Hire people who value guest interaction, train them to execute timing with multiple drink types, provide hands-on leadership by working beside them, and create a culture that prioritizes efficiency without sacrificing hospitality.
