  • Disappointing

Sorry but the episode on Iran was really disappointing. Nobody likes the Iranian regime‘s repressiveness. But it is quite rich to portray the US and Israel as beacons of hope and modernity, embraced by Gulf countries. In fact, Israel has bombed Yemen, Lebanon, Gaza, Syria, Qatar, Iran quite recently. Additionally, autocracies like Egypt and Jordan are enabled and supported to suppress their people for the benefit of Israel.

  • Love the show but…

How can author Spufford be surprised Americans aren’t aware of something right under their noses? It is their arrogance, exceptionalism and poor education system that has gotten us to where we are today.

  • Iran

Wow Terry. As the conversation progressed I could clearly see how biased this was. I guess being Jewish you’re still trying to hold onto the tired narrative that Israel good & Iran bad. Having guests that craftily still paint the story that way. We the public have woken and know now that Israel is the culprit. I still love Terry but damn?!

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

John Waters, 'Pope of Trash,' turns 80!
Q: What made you think of hitchhiking across the country as an idea for your book?
I wanted a midlife crisis that didn't involve a flashy purchase or reckless stunt; hitchhiking offered a way to meet real people and collect stories while putting myself in vulnerable, unpredictable situations. It was about freedom, storytelling, and confronting my own limits.
Have we been reading Toni Morrison all wrong?
Q: Why is naming such a crucial device in Song of Solomon?
Names in Morrison's work are loaded with pun, history, and irony; they carry prophecy and critique, revealing deeper truths about identity, community, and the past that the surface plot alone cannot convey.
Have we been reading Toni Morrison all wrong?
Q: What did Morrison show you?
She showed a way to read blackness as central and to value the ethical and historical work of fiction that refuses to explain everything to a presumed audience, focusing instead on the texture of language and the complexity of cultural memory.
Inside a mobile OB/GYN clinic
Q: How has the current political climate impacted your ability to provide care across state lines and amid abortion bans?
Cross-state care presents legal and financial challenges, insurance constraints, and fear among patients about traveling for care; the clinic envisions outreach to underserved communities but faces structural barriers that limit its reach.
Inside a mobile OB/GYN clinic
Q: Can you describe what makes the RV clinic different in terms of patient experience and care delivery?
The RV clinic creates a more intimate, flexible space with a welcoming, non-sterile environment, allowing longer, more personalized visits and a stronger doctor-patient relationship, while also addressing burnout by reimagining workflow and space.
