Ezra Klein invites you into a conversation on something that matters. How do we address climate change if the political system fails to act? Has the logic of markets infiltrated too many aspects of our lives? What is the future of the Republican Party? What do psychedelics teach us about consciousness? What does sci-fi understand about our present that we miss? Can our food system be just to human... more

The Democratic Party is in the middle of a rupture over foreign policy – with Israel and Palestine at the center.
In recent weeks, the Democratic senators Brian Schatz and Chris Van Hollen both called for a break with the Biden administration’s poli... more
A new masculinist movement has gone mainstream on the right.
The prominent voices in this movement yearn for an earlier time, when men were men and women were women. Sometimes that time seems to be the 1950s, like when Tucker Carlson extols a world ... more
Over the past month, there have been two dominant stories in American foreign policy. One, of course, is the war with Iran. The other is the much-anticipated summit between President Trump and Xi Jinping of China. And I think if you look closely at b... more
President Trump doesn’t seem to care that much about winning the midterms. He’s more unpopular at this point in his second term than basically any of his modern predecessors. Democrats seem poised to retake the House and have a real chance of retakin... more

Your recent conversation with Yuval Harari was so interesting I listened to it twice and shared it. Please have him on more! The dynamic between you two is perfectly balanced.
I don’t know what’s wrong with the algorithm. I listen to intelligent, insightful podcasts. This was idiotic.
Ezra Klein has a mixture of good, bad, interesting, and thoughtless hot takes on politics. I appreciate that he at least takes a posture of kindness and often comes across as humble. But boy do I dislike the repeated efforts to make Buddhism palatable to his audience. Buddhism’s escapist mindset and self-focused practices offer nothing valuable to our present challenges, and I lose respect for Ezra each time he presents it as uniquely helpful
Good on politics. Terrible on religion.
I listened with interest to the debate about how hard it is to build housing in CA. I have lived in Santa Monica, CA for over 36 years and I have never seen so much housing development. Mixed use projects are popping up all over the place. Maybe Santa Monica is an anomaly.
On another note….. if it is so inexpensive to build in Texas and that is where people want to live, then they should, all means, move there. There are too many people in CA anyway. Growth for growth’s sake never made sense... more

Thoughtful, idea-rich conversations that balance deep policy analysis with accessible storytelling. Frequent topics include housing policy, governance and state capacity, liberalism and civic education, technology regulation (notably AI), health and science via GLP-1 drugs, and international affairs (Iran, Israel-Palestine, global leadership). Episodes often feature policymakers, academics, journalists, and subject-matter experts who unpack complex systems, trade-offs, and governance challenges in the U.S. and around the world. The show is likely to appeal to listeners who value rigor, nuance, and the intersection of policy, politics, and culture, with an emphasis on practical implications for governance and reform. A noteworthy pattern is ... more
