Each Tuesday and Friday, Ezra Klein invites you into a conversation on something that matters. How do we address climate change if the political system fails to act? Has the logic of markets infiltrated too many aspects of our lives? What is the future of the Republican Party? What do psychedelics teach us about consciousness? What does sci-fi understand about our present that we miss? Can our foo... more

The economy has hit a hinge moment. For the past few years, inflation has been the big economic story — the fixation of economic policymakers, journalists and almost everyone who goes to the grocery store. But economists now largely see inflation as ... more

I’ve been fascinated by the problem Donald Trump faces with Project 2025. Trump has been caught in an awkward position, disavowing the document itself, but unable to fully disavow the people behind it. So I wanted to do an episode not just on Trump, ... more

He has such deeply insightful, logical and yet compassionate views and thoughts on topics I’d never think could be interesting. One of the most amazing journalists (and people) I’ve had the pleasure of listening to. Thanks Ezra — you make be want to be not only a better citizen but better human.
Just listened to the interview with Jia Tolentino. Ughhhhhh. That was so painful. Two elite urban intellectuals debating each other for 90 minutes about screens and phones. Ezra mostly justifying his own misgivings about them and Jia justifying psychedelic use? Guys, it’s not that complicated. Screens are bad for children. You don’t need them to parent. Done.
Ezra Klein is highly intelligent, thoughtful and insightful. He deeply researches his topics and considers various perspectives. I listen, consider and find his approach perceptive and engaging. That is who Ezra Klein is and I applaud him for exactly that!
Going into the minutiae of having a child? Sure there’s meaning in that, like there’s meaning in anything. But just like many things, meaning can be only so interesting and significant — no matter how intellectual of an enterprise you try to make it sound. I felt like saying, “Just clean up the kid’s vomit already and talk about something (truly) meaningful!”
I used to listen to Klein and occasionally enjoyed his interviews, though I often found him arrogant. But when he decided bilaterally that he and only he knew exactly how the 2024 election should be run and then when he doubled down on an open convention, I realized he’s much too pompous and self impressed to get another listen from me. Bye, Ezra. I hope you enjoy hanging out with the Trump apologists at your newspaper.
