The Monte Carlo feels like an obvious extension of the Old Fashioned: whiskey, bitters, and Benedictine for sweetness. Under-ordered but beloved by bartenders, it’s a drink with depth, nuance, and history worth unpacking. Joining us to do just that i... more
Once dismissed as “mocktails,” non-alcoholic cocktails are now among the most exciting frontiers in modern bartending. And at Kato in Los Angeles, Austin Hennelly is forging an exciting new path, rethinking NA wine and creating systems that ensure gu... more
The Cameron’s Kick is one of the great curiosities of the cocktail canon: a split-base sour that brings Scotch and Irish whiskey together in the same glass. First published by Harry McElhone in the 1920s, it’s a classic with a nutty twist thanks to o... more

I am always inspired to make the cocktail from the latest episode
Tim McKirdy & the VinePair folks do a fantastic job on this podcast. Some episodes are focused on techniques or ingredients. Currently (18July’25) they have started a very interesting and well done three-podcast series on mezcal. Overall, very worthwhile to check out if you have even a modest interest in... more
I have listened to several different cocktail podcasts. Cocktail College stands out for its focus on actually making cocktails. As a budding cocktail maker I find it hugely educational and entertaining.
It’s an interesting concept. Talk to a respected bartender about a classic cocktail they love. Depending on the personality of the guest it can sometimes be wonderful at other times a bit laborious, especially if they think too highly of themselves! It’s nice the recipes are given at the end.
Update. It used to be great before Tim became the ‘expert’ rather than the guest. He could do with a bit more humility…
I don’t even use this app, but I just really wanted to leave a good review for what I consider to be one of the best podcasts out there! Tim and the VinePair team have developed an amazing formula and executed brilliantly with genuine passion for the topic. I also appreciate the caliber of the guests they have on the show every week and the golden nuggets of insights that come out of each conversation. Tim, I would love to see Jeff “Beachbum” Berry on the show one day talking about the Ancient M... more
