  • Fun and Informative

Great insider baseball for people outside of the wine and beverage industry. Fun banter between the hosts!

  • Listen to Every Episode

I really enjoy this podcast and really everything VinePair puts out. They’re very direct, honest, and cover a lot of great topics that I might not hear about otherwise. Even when an episode is something that doesn’t sound like a topic I’d enjoy, I still listen because each time I learn more. Their candor is fun to listen to and I love the different intros of what they’ve had to drink and what they’ve been reading on the site.

  • 12 minutes to get to topic!

Dropped my rating from 2 stars to 1 since hosts can’t stop talking about themselves instead of getting to topic in title of episode.

  • Conservative Drink Wine too

Love the pod and have listened for years. But any chance we can cut the snide shots at conservatives. There's a world outside of NYC. Actually most of it is. And a LOT of us drink wine. I've been to Napa and Sonoma approaching 20 times. Love if you just stuck to the wine world. Thanks guys.

The Middle Tier is Merging and Morphing
Q: Dave, what's going on with Southern and its expansion into wine and spirits while Reyes grows by snagging R&DC assets?
Southern is leveraging its existing dominance to push into high-velocity segments and leverage ABI relationships, while Reyes is expanding through strategic acquisitions of R&DC markets, creating a two-front dynamic in the middle tier that could redefine market power.
Could Wine Actually Wholly Abandon Wholesale?
Q: What are the other viable channels if wholesale fades as a primary route for many wineries?
The guests suggest a mix of enhanced direct-to-consumer efforts, expanded wine club and winery operations, stronger storytelling and branding to stand out on shelves, strategic self-distribution where allowed, and leveraging digital and social channels to create demand that can attract wholesale partners.
Should Wineries Prioritize Urban Tasting Rooms?
Q: Do we think that more people should focus on opening urban tasting rooms?
Yes, it can create a more fun and engaging atmosphere for consumers and is better suited to contemporary drinking habits.
