  • Disappointing interview

Listened to the Lilac Girls episode. The host sounded like she hadn’t read the book at all, and she does not listen to the author she is interviewing. Several times she asked questions that the author just answered seconds prior. Would loved to have heard a more thoughtful conversation.

  • Interrupts too much

Such an irritating habit she has. I am going to try a few more episodes, maybe she is "new" to this podcasting stuff..., and maybe she reads these comments and will adjust, but dang, she talks over and interrupts way too much.

And her comments don't even sound as though she actually heard her guest speaking, it sounds like she was just waiting for them to be finshed so she could talk. And, when they aren't fast enough with their point, she just interrupts them.

  • Cringe

Great guests. Terrible host. She is rude, interrupts, types while the interviewee is speaking, doesn't sound particularly interested, and she rattles off questions that are clearly just on a piece of paper in front of her. I felt bad for the guest.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Leisa Reid - Get Speaking Gigs Now
Q: How do you approach a topic like AI to ensure it serves a real business purpose and isn't just trendy?
I ensure there's a client-focused thread, defining who needs to be in the room, what outcome is desired, and how the topic ties to measurable business results, avoiding vague or generic titles.
Leisa Reid - Get Speaking Gigs Now
Q: What do you see as the biggest blockers people have before getting on stage, and how do you overcome them?
Many believe they must be famous or have a best-selling book; I focus on discovering their core brilliance, helping them articulate a compelling message, and building confidence through a structured process like the Get Your Talk Ready to Rock session.
Leisa Reid - Get Speaking Gigs Now
Q: So let's talk about really honing your topic. How do you help someone decide what they should speak about?
We start with their business model, clients, and the audience they want to reach, then identify what topic can both attract clients and remain true to their strengths, ensuring there's a clear through-line across their company name, book title, and talk.
Don Weber - HUMINT and Behavioral expert
Q: What tips do you have for everyday people about reading cues and communicating under stress?
Use baselining to know what is normal for a person, look for micro and macro nonverbal signals, and apply strategic empathy to understand their perspective without getting pulled into unnecessary emotional reactions.
Ellen Shapiro - The Secret Buttons
Q: How did you approach writing about dark events for a younger audience without overwhelming them?
She describes crafting scenes through the eyes of 12-year-old protagonists, selecting key moments, and using a gentle, age-appropriate framing while still conveying resilience and historical gravity.
