  • Making me a better leader!

I just wanted to say thank you to Kirk for making me a better leader by opening my mind to all these great thought leaders in dentistry. Every single one I listen to points out areas for growth(deficiencies!) in my leadership. I only wish this had been around 20 years ago! I wouldn’t have made all the mistakes I have made! But I deeply appreciate all this, it gives me fuel to fan the flame of a leader that everyone wants to follow. Thank you, thank you, thank you.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

1039: Metric Mondays: Why Are We Producing Well but Still Feel Tight on Cash? - Carlie Einarson
Q: Carlie, let's give listeners an action plan: what can they do today to improve this in their practice?
Start by sitting with the admin team to create or review a clear financial policy, ensure you have a plan for collecting money at the point of service, implement an AR management system, and use analytics to monitor AR days and collections percentage, then train the team and implement a consistent process with patient communications.
1039: Metric Mondays: Why Are We Producing Well but Still Feel Tight on Cash? - Carlie Einarson
Q: And Carlie, what's the key message we want people to understand about this cash-flow topic?
The key message is that strong production does not automatically translate to strong cash flow; the crucial factors are the percentage of money collected and how quickly it is collected, which is driven by a formal financial policy and tight AR processes.
1036: Metric Mondays: If Patients Aren't Saying Yes, What Should I Look at First - Carlie Einarson
Q: What should a practice do first to improve these metrics?
Write down and communicate the practice philosophy and standard of care, pull a few weeks of data to establish a baseline, involve the team in reviewing diagnostic percentage and case acceptance, and set up a consistent system for co-discovery and comprehensive exams.
1034: Hiring for Culture Fit: Why Skills Alone Aren’t Enough - Heather Crockett
Q: How should a practice implement a system to hire for culture fit?
Define the role with core values in the ad, use a consistent set of questions, and build a templated process that can be repeated for every candidate to ensure bias reduction and better cultural alignment.
1034: Hiring for Culture Fit: Why Skills Alone Aren’t Enough - Heather Crockett
Q: What are the four types of interview questions and why do they matter?
Credential questions verify education and licenses; technical questions assess minimum performance standards; experience questions explore past duties; and behavior-based questions gauge alignment with core values and potential future behavior in the practice.
