  • Long Tome Listener - Reform Is Needed

Still a good show - I’ve listened to every episode and I still enjoy it. If these get read I hope that NPR will refocus on what made the show great originally. Unbiased observation and explanation of interesting and topical economics.

I concur with some of the comments about the hosts - it may be time for a shake up.

Overall - hope this encourages NPR to tighten up the show some.

  • It’s about politics as much as economics

Used to be a good short podcast to escape political news and learn about economics and a quantitative take on the state of the world. Now nearly every episode has an extremely non-subtle and non-neutral political message.

  • This podcast has a tendency to fall short of looking at Big pictures and focus only on a narrow section of the reports that it makes. In the data center report they only focus on data centers causing electric infrastructure to go up ignoring States like New York or doing away with natural gas in favor of electric and the effects of electric vehicles on the grid they need to broaden their scope

  • Whenever this side show touches on my industries, the inaccuracies and lack of overall understanding become glaring.

E.g., w/ AI, they have a narrative they want to tell, whether or not it's true, and completely fail to differentiate betw. the different types and uses of AI and thus effects and dangers.

Edit: Removing a star after yet another ep that giggles through endorsing Trump propaganda without a single second spent thinking about actual scientific reality and responsibility. Unsubbed.
