  • Daloney - nobody cares

If that dude reminds us one more time “I was a dean of students” I'm going to freak out. Holy smokes, can the producer please tell him to STOP!

  • Mostly solid advice

Been listening for a bit and appreciate most of the feedback; however, Dave can often come off with a “know it all” attitude/response based on an assumption. Listened to his take on Trusts and him indicating probate takes 10 minutes. From experience, this is untrue. Probate is not a quick process and people can contest a will. A Trust protects all assets from probate and otherwise and ensures assets go to who they’re intended to. Additionally for business purposes, while living, the trustee is o... more

  • Great Show!

I enjoy listening to the show, especially the Rachel and Dave episodes. I like the balance that Rachel gives Dave.

The John Delony episodes are the hardest to listen to. There’s an overkill of psychology when sometimes people are just looking for financial answers.

Biblical principles work. As Dave has often stated, he didn’t make this up. He is a good teacher of those principles though.

  • Needs updates

Dave has become so demeaning to callers and cohosts alike. The $1,000 emergency fund has never been increased for inflation. You can’t even get a set of good tires for $1000 these days. Not to mention his staunch support of Trump is counter to his “principles.” Spending money like you’re in Congress is a laughable saying when he voted for someone who is amassing MILLIONS in wealth off the backs of Americans. Dave needs a reality check.

  • Please adjust baby step 1 for inflation

I listen every day, but PLEASE update baby step 1 to $2500 to account for inflation since the 1990s when the rule was introduced. Three decades later, $1000 no longer covers car repairs, small maintenance bills, or full deductibles. Love the baby steps in theory, but this is tough one to fully support knowing what true emergency expenses look like for baby step 1 folks. Thank you!

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

When You Don't Have Payments, You Have More Options
Q: How should I handle wage garnishment and tax debt together with other debts?
Pay off tax debts first, then address car loans, then work through the debt snowball. Avoid taking new debt against assets like a vehicle; focus on stabilizing cash flow, getting IRS/state off your back, and then proceed with a structured payoff plan.
When You Don't Have Payments, You Have More Options
Q: Should I sell my property to pay off debts or keep it for longer-term gains?
Sell the investment if debt payoff would take years and you need liquidity; keep it if you can aggressively pay down debt in 2-3 years while still benefiting from the asset. The decision depends on whether you can consistently contribute $3,000-$4,000 per month to debt and whether you value the asset enough to sacrifice liquidity.
A Bigger Paycheck Won't Fix Bad Money Habits
Q: Is it possible to buy a home with the current down payment and avoid foundation issues in Fort Worth?
The hosts emphasize aligning expectations with what you can truly afford and being willing to adjust down payment size and home quality; also encourage assessing foundation concerns realistically and not overgeneralizing.
Set Money Goals Your Future Will Thank You For
Q: When is it appropriate to buy a home given debt and income?
Aim for a three-year window to buy if possible, plan with a 15-year fixed rate, and ensure a substantial down payment to avoid PMI.
Set Money Goals Your Future Will Thank You For
Q: How should a family approach funding college without wrecking their finances?
Consider scholarships, 529 plans, community college for the first year, and align college choices with long-term affordability and debt avoidance.
