  • Raines = brought the pod down

Love the pod but the Jack Raines episode is horrendous advice for anyone not going to a M7 MBA in their late 20s

  • Alcohol = Socializing?

Love the show. But are you and Derek Thompson seriously advocating for drinking moderate alcohol and doing regular exercise as a way of extending life? Why must “alcohol” = “socializing”? How about going out late and meeting a friend for a non-alcoholic drink? Being concerned that young people “aren’t drinking enough” is missing the point entirely. The point is, “be with people” plain and simple. The point is not “drink alcohol and be with people.”

  • Please Finish a Thought …

I give up. I can’t stand Scott’s rambling + not finishing a thought + pontificating on brain farts on subjects he’s simply not thought through enough and/or he’s not qualified to speak about. If I could rate this 0 stars I would. I used to like Scott a lot but since his book came out, his ego has exploded.

  • I can’t listen to Alice Han’s china-biased commentary

I invite diversity of opinions but I find the co-host to be so intellectually dishonest in her knee-jerk bias towards China that it renders the entire effort unlistenable. The trust in the commentary has become wholly absent

The Truth About the Entrepreneurship Boom, and How to Manage Cash Flow as a Founder
Q: You recently spoke about the explosion of single person businesses. Are these businesses and gig work dramatically skewing the jobs report in a way that has never happened before?
The jobs data are drawn from two surveys; the payroll survey is blind to many solo ventures, while the household survey captures solo work, which means the headline jobs figure remains driven by payrolls and doesn't fully reflect solo gig work; overall, solo and creator activity is not inflating payrolls but is visible in separate measures of employment.
Why We’re Having Less Sex — and Why It Matters (ft. Dr. Debra Soh)
Q: What are your thoughts on pornography's impact on young men's motivation to pursue real-life relationships?
Pornography provides highly realistic sexual experiences, can sedate motivation to seek real-world dating, and AI pornography may further reduce initiation and real-life dating opportunities.
Is SpaceX Overvalued? + What to Do When You're Not Getting Promoted
Q: And two, how do you handle office politics when you conflict with your core values? Where do you draw the line between adapting and compromising too much?
Communicate openly and honestly about your concerns, stay authentic, and consider switching teams if the dynamic is toxic; prioritize delivering good work and maintaining integrity while navigating politics.
Is SpaceX Overvalued? + What to Do When You're Not Getting Promoted
Q: Two questions here. One, how do you build a good relationship with a boss when you're clearly not one of their favorites? I worry that trying to get close to him will come across as fake and maybe make things worse.
Be transparent and focused on performance; discuss perceptions in a calm year-end review, acknowledge the dynamic, and demonstrate value by doing your job well while seeking constructive ways to work with different teams or bosses if needed.
The Basics of Financial Security + Can American Small Business Compete Again?
Q: What is the basics of financial planning for a family?
Start by living below your means, automate savings, consider tax-advantaged accounts, diversify investments, and build a 6- to 12-month disaster fund; also focus on non-investing to-dos like wills, powers of attorney, and insurance to protect the family.
