Interested in the topic, but when I heard them talk down to / over a female guest, I turned it off.
Good guests, good idea for a podcast and valuable information but I have trouble listening because of how the hosts conduct themselves. I’m listening to episode 38 and they keep talking over the guest and otherwise don’t let her simply answer at length. I write this review with the disclaimer that I am not a therapist, but a social scientist who is very interested in the social and cultural dynamics in and around therapy. I appreciate this podcast for the important topics it covers and have learned a great deal about the theoretical and practical ins and outs of therapy. It is intellectually stimulating and the conversations rich.
That said, I can’t help but be disappointed by the hosts’ tendency to talk over or jump to “interpret for” guests... more
I am a online MFT grad student at NCU and I use this podcast to stay connected and supplement my classes. Thank you ! Your interview with Dr. Sue Johnson has been a great inspiration and helped me write a great paper.
I deeply appreciate everything about this podcast. It covers the material in-depth without being pedantic or self-indulgent. The cohosts have excellent chemistry and achieve that magical podcasting balance between engaging banter and informative content. Everyone has a podcast these days, but these guys clearly care about the quality of the work. As a "future therapist of America," I've found "Talking Therapy" to be a really wonderful introduction to the field. Definitely worth subscribing!
