I really appreciate the theme of this podcast as primary care PT is so important. In a way it’s niche, but primary care PT can touch a variety of populations. Guests in different settings and populations keeps the content fresh.

I do feel like the host offers her opinions more than I am used to on other similar podcasts. I think it detracts a bit from having guests with a variety of perspectives on, as she has multiple short spiels per episode. It takes away from the guest’s time and it feels l... more

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

S3E9: Value Based Care Opportunity in Primary Care PT
Q: How can therapists prepare to participate in this model and what educational resources exist?
Therapists should pursue education on value-based care models, care pathways, and team-based care. The episode promotes training programs and online workshops, including a startup workshop with live sessions, and resources from redefinehealthed.com to build foundations in MSK care within primary care collaboration.
S3E9: Value Based Care Opportunity in Primary Care PT
Q: What is the typical process and standard of care for primary care, and how does value-based care change that in terms of the role of PTs?
Value-based care focuses on improving health outcomes and reducing costs through population health management, risk stratification, and structured workflows. PTs can play a critical role by embedding in primary care teams, guiding MSK care, enabling same-day triage, and supporting preventive and rehabilitative strategies that prevent hospitalizations and high-cost events.
S3E5: Primary Care PT in Private Practice... Hmm....
Q: Why is the traditional outpatient business model still constraining primary care PT adoption?
Because reimbursement structures, KPI focus, and script-driven practices incentivize volume over high-value, patient-centered care, making it hard for clinicians to work at the top of their license.
