  • Poor audio quality

The latest episode was on a subject I was really interested in learning more about, a systematic review of advanced practice PT’s in an emergency department. However, the audio quality suggests both the interviewer and guest seemed to be recording this interview via a cell phone call on speaker phone with poor connectivity. The result was an interview that was hardly understandable. Please invest in quality recording equipment and a sound engineer to really make the most of this podcast.

  • Poor audio quality

I was super excited for the latest podcast addressing bridging the gap between rehab and performance but the audio made it really hard to listen to. You could barely understand what the interviewer was saying and often the interviewe missed the question because he misunderstood it. Fix the technical difficulties and it could be a great podcast.

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

PTJ Author Interview: Empathetic Communication by Physical Therapists
Q: Is communication trainable, and what are the best practices for training these skills?
The researchers acknowledge that there is not yet a definitive answer; training in empathic communication is complex, and future studies are needed to identify effective training methods and characteristics of more empathic clinicians.
PTJ Author Interview: Empathetic Communication by Physical Therapists
Q: Why did you see stronger associations at six weeks, and what does that say about the interaction over time?
Communication in PT is co-constructed over multiple sessions; the relationships develop as clinicians repeatedly respond to emotions, leading to progressively stronger associations between empathetic communication and outcomes.
PTJ Author Interview: Empathetic Communication by Physical Therapists
Q: What counts as empathy here and how did you operationalize it for this study?
The study defined empathy as recognizing, validating, or exploring an emotion raised by the patient, and identified three main behaviors: active listening, acknowledging emotions, and verbalizing support, while avoiding pity or simply fixing the problem.
The Legacy of Vilma Evans, a Pioneering Black Physical Therapy Leader
Q: What lessons do you think can be passed on to today's clinicians and pioneers in the physical therapy profession?
Milly emphasizes the importance of perseverance and rising above challenges, encouraging clinicians not to give up.
